Resident Evil 4 VR blew everyone away when it launched last year, but one noticeable absence was the game's classic Mercenaries mode. Well, today it was announced that you'll be able to drop into the mode for a quick game right now as Mercenaries has now been made available as a free update for everyone who currently owns the title on Oculus Quest 2.
While Resident Evil 4 fans will be very familiar with the incredibly popular mode, there are a few new additions to the Quest 2 version of the game that will surely drag in even the most veteran players. The Mercenaries on Quest 2 will feature several new challenges for players to conquer and will even feature exclusives leaderboards for you to compare your scores with your friends.
Playing through Mercenaries mode will also net you a couple of neat little additions to use in the main game, including new weapons and outfits for Leon and Ashley. You'll even be able to unlock classic cheats and filters including Big Head Mode, Classic Horror Mode, and Fast Forward Mode to apply to the main game as well.
Resident Evil 4 VR's surprise release wasn't the only reveal of note during the Meta Quest showcase, as we also got our first look at some Among Us VR gameplay. There was also a new trailer for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution as well as an in-depth look at Moss Book 2 before it launches on Quest 2 later this summer.
With this announcement, Resident Evil4 seems to be as popular as ever, and Capcom will be hoping this popularity can muster some decent hype for the heavily rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake that is supposed to be in development at the moment. We haven't heard much about the project, although a report from not too long ago suggested that Capcom may lean a bit more into the game's horror elements, potentially adding some of the more spookier aspects from the game's beta.
