When fans discuss the best Resident Evil games ever, rarely do either of the Revelations titles get mentioned. In fact, the sub-series is often forgotten about, which is a shame because the two games are strong entries in Capcom's horror franchise.

They both include some of the series' best characters, compelling stories, and even a few genuine scares – which can't be said from many RE titles in recent history. Plus, the games also reveal plenty of fascinating things about the Resident Evil universe that players who skipped the titles won't know. Here are some of the most intriguing things the Revelations titles divulge.

8 The Uroboros Virus Didn't Die With Albert Wesker

The Uroboros virus turns people into giant pulsating monsters that are covered in slime. And throughout Resident Evil 5, Chris and Sheva have several run-ins with these slimy creatures. TRICELL and Albert Wesker are to blame for creating the viral agent, and the latter even tries to release it onto the world. Thankfully, the game's protagonists are on hand to stop the madman's aspirations.

After Albert Wesker's demise, it seemed the Uroboros virus was no more. Yet, a fellow member of the Wesker project, Alex Wesker, managed to obtain a sample of Uroboros, as shown in Revelations 2, when she injects it into Neil Fisher.

7 Working For Terrasave Nearly Led To Claire Redfield's Downfall

Fans of Resident Evil's animated movies know that Claire Redfield now works for a company called TerraSave. The organization is a human rights agency, and Claire is one of its most celebrated members. In Revelations 2, however, TerraSave's leader Neil Fisher betrays several of his team, including Redfield.

Neil offers them up as test subjects for Alex Wesker's research into the T-Phobos virus. The ambitious man does so by setting up an ambush that sees Wesker's people abduct the TerraSave employees and take them to a remote island to be infected. Many of the people Fisher hands over to Wesker meet grizzly fates. Yet, Claire doesn't suffer any ill effects of the virus, nor does she get killed by the creatures inhabiting the island.

6 Barry Burton And His Daughter, Moira, Have A Difficult Relationship

Resident Evil Revelations 2 Barry Burton Face Shot

From the very first game in the series, Barry Burton is known to be a family man. After all, he betrays some of his closest friends to save his children. However, in the following years, his family life got more difficult, and his relationship with his daughter, Moira, became strained.

During Revelations 2, both Burtons make it clear that they're not on good terms. Their rift began when Moira was a child and accidentally shot her sister with one of Barry's guns. The Burton child survived the bullet, but Barry's enraged reaction to the incident left a lasting mark on Moira. Towards the end of the game, the father and daughter start to make up, though.

5 The Existence And Subsequent Fall Of The FBC

The first Revelations game introduces the Federal Bioterrorism Commission to the series. The group is a law enforcement agency, which is supposed to combat bioterrorist threats. And like several Resident Evil organizations, they eventually become villains.

In this case, it's their Commissioner, Morgan Lansdale, who's to blame for the FBC doing more harm than good. He secretly works with the terrorist group known as II Veltro to cause the Terragrigia incident and show the world why the FBC is so valuable, thus increasing their funding. Lansdale's plan ends up working, but eventually, he gets found out and arrested, causing the disbandment of the FBC.

4 A New Hunter Variant

Unlike most of the scariest monsters in the series, Hunters don't incite fear because of their visual appearance. Instead, the scaly creatures are terrifying because of how hard they are to kill and how much damage they dish out.

The first Revelations game introduces a new variant of the beasts, which is even more dangerous than the others as it can turn invisible. And these Hunters don't use the classic video game style of invisibility where they always give off a shimmer; usually, they are completely translucent. In fact, the only way to tell where the beasts are is to look at what part of the ground they're disturbing. The creatures are called Farfarellos, and they're the result of infecting regular Hunters with the T-Abyss virus.

3 There Are A Couple Of Other Viruses In The Resident Evil Universe

There has been plenty of viruses in the Resident Evil series, with the likes of the T and G being the main ones. If you've played the Revelations games, you'll know of a few more viral agents. The first title introduces the T-Abyss virus, which turns those infected into Ooze creatures. There are multiple different variants of Ooze life forms, with the most common being the tall grey beasts that roam around the Queen Zenobia.

Revelations 2, on the other hand, includes the T-Phobos virus. When someone is infected with the viral agent, they won't necessarily transform straight away as the virus only mutates its host when they're scared. Both bioweapons are interesting, and it would be a shame if they don't reappear in the series one day.

2 Raccoon City Isn't The Only Populated Area To Be Destroyed Because Of An Outbreak

Resident Evil Revelations Screenshot Of Terragrigia Being Destroyed

The most famous incident in Resident Evil history is the Racoon City Outbreak that ended in the area's destruction. In Resident Evil Revelations, Terragrigia shares a similar fate to what Raccoon City did all those years ago. Veltro – with the help of Morgan Lansdale – launch a bio attack on the city by releasing a virus as well as a group of Hunters.

Many residents of Terragriga die as a result of the outbreaks. And the only way to stem the chaos is by using the city's solar energy matrix to reflect the sun's rays directly onto the whole place. The heat of the beams successfully wipes out all the monsters, but there's barely anything left of Terragriga afterward.

1 One Member Of The Wesker Clan Is Still A Danger To The World

Resident Evil Revelations 2 Screenshot Of Natalia Reading At The End Of The Game

Albert Wesker might go down as the best Resident Evil villain ever. He was compelling, hateable, and a real physical threat to the protagonists. At the end of Resident Evil 5, though, Albert was blown up, so it's likely he's gone forever. Alex Wesker, however, appears as the main antagonist throughout Revelations 2. The woman is as evil and cunning as Albert, but with the added bonus of (seemingly) being alive.

Like her brother was in RE5, Alex is obliterated at the end of Revelations 2. Yet, before her demise, she spends the whole game trying to put her consciousness inside Natalia Korda's body, and during the conclusion, it is heavily implied that she succeeds. With Natalia's supernatural body, Alex could be a significant threat in a future mainline game.
