Resident Evil Village is one of our most anticipated games of 2021. The follow-up to the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village will take us to a European mountain community that seems beset by strange monsters that may or may not be werewolves. And possibly vampires--the previous trailers didn't make it all that clear.

Which is what we hope to clear up when Capcom hosts their "Resident Evil Showcase" on January 21 at 10 PM GMT (5 PM EST).

The official announcement comes straight from Capcom and includes such details as who will be our lovely hostess. Brittney Brombacher, co-founder of What's Good Games, will take us on a "guided tour of Resident Evil Village," along with giving us a brand new trailer, our first look at gameplay, "and lots more Resident Evil news!"

So what do we know? We know that Resident Evil Village takes place after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. We know that Chris Redfield is back and he may or may not be a werewolf according to this recently uncovered key art. The game will likely still be first-person and it'll have an inventory system similar to Resident Evil 4.

We're also pretty sure the game takes place in Romania, which is an entirely appropriate location for there to be werewolves. Also, there are yetis too, which will make for a great combination of monsters.

As for more Resident Evil news, we're still waiting for Capcom to acknowledge long-standing rumors of a Resident Evil 4 remake, and with Resident Evil Village adopting the same inventory system, it seems like Capcom might be able to save some development time by having the two games share some of their code.

I’m not saying to expect a Resident Evil 4 remake next week, but I’m saying I wouldn’t be too surprised.
