Resident Evil Village gameplay was finally shown off today, courtesy of Capcom's Resident Evil Showcase. The extended trailer offered a look at the terrifying first-person title in action, showing off various locales you'll be visiting along with many of the foes you'll be slaying as you step into the shoes of Ethan Winters.

Speaking of shoes, one of the most useful new moves in Ethan's repertoire is a powerful kick – giving you the ability to create space between you and your undead foes. It sounds like you'll be taking frequent advantage of it, too, as it helps you evade enemies without wasting precious ammo.

The Resident Evil Village gameplay trailer was one of the few aspects of the showcase confirmed beforehand. Capcom left much of the livestream a mystery, only revealing it would be hosted by Brittney Brombacher of What's Good Games and that Peter Fabiano – Resident Evil Village's Producer – would offer an extended look at the world and its new characters.

The new footage didn't disappoint, giving fans a long-awaited look at the horror game in action. Each enemy shown off in the trailer employs a different strategy when it comes to facing off against Ethan, and you'll need to quickly adapt your playstyle if you hope to come out alive. You can check it out for yourself below:

Before the Resident Evil Showcase, little was known about its characters, storyline, and… well, pretty much everything else. The latest trailer still leaves plenty of mystery for the full release, but it's great to see Village in action. As the first next-gen game for the long-running series, fans' expectations for Village were through the roof. Thankfully – if this latest trailer is anything to go by – the team is more than up to the challenge. Village looks stunning on next-gen consoles, and we're excited to get our hands on it later this year and start kicking some undead ass. Literally.
