This probably comes as little surprise for Capcom fans, but Resident Evil Village is selling. Like, a lot. In just four days, over 3 million copies have been sold in physical and digital formats, according to Capcom's press release touting the game's success to its investors.

That beats out Resident Evil 3 Remake, which shipped 2 million units in five days, and Resident Evil 7, which shipped 2.5 million units in four days (according to VGC). It matches Resident Evil 2 Remake's performance of shipping 3 million in four days, but actually comes second place to Resident Evil 6 which sold 4.5 million copies in just two days--a Capcom record until the release of Monster Hunter World in 2018.

Resident Evil Village's success also carried over to PC where it broke the franchise record for concurrent Steam players. RE Village peaked at just over 100,000 players on launch day, which beats out Resident Evil 2 Remake's 75,000. Village was also yesterday's top seller on the digital sales platform.

For those that have been living under a rock for the past four days, Resident Evil Village follows RE7's Ethan Winters as he finds himself in a strange vaguely European village that is infested with all sorts of monsters and critters just itching to tear him open--including an absurdly enormous vampire lady that you've almost certainly heard about before now.

The game is really an homage to Resident Evil 4, as per our reviewer Jade, who also said that RE Village really isn't all that scary in comparison to the rest of the series. So if you're not a real horror fan, you'll still probably enjoy RE Village's tall, tall lady.

In the same press release, Capcom noted that Resident Evil Village is still set to get a multiplayer component in Resident Evil Re: Verse, which will be free to all Village owners. It won't arrive until later in the summer, but don't worry if you forget about it--Capcom is giving Village owners a good 800 years to cash in their digital access codes.
