If you followed the previous part of our Resident Evil Village walkthrough, you should now be on the roof of Castle Dimitrescu, next to the elevator. Read on for what to do next.

Other RE8 Village Guides

Step out of the elevator and head left. There’s a vase with some Lei on your left here. There’s also a vase here on your right, but first, you’ll have to deal with the vampire bat that flies up to attack. At this range, your pistol will do. Smash the vase for some Sniper Rifle Ammo and then follow the snowy rooftop around past the castle spires.

Keep heading across the Rooftops, heading East, and deal with any enemies that attack you on your way. Once you get as far East as you can go, you need to head up the sloped section of the roof and over to the other side where there’s a vase and some Handgun Ammo. Once you’ve crossed over, head East again and up the stairs. Loop around at the top and you’ll come to some shelter with two vases inside - crack them open for more Sniper Rifle Ammo and then take the zipline to the Tower of Rage.

Lady Dimitrescu - Girl Boss

As soon as you land, there’s a statue in front of you where you can acquire the Mask of Rage - the final mask needed for Castle Dimitrescu’s Hall of the Four. Exit the Tower of Rage by following the balcony along and dropping a ladder. Climb down. You’ll be right by the elevator so take it down and head back to the Hall of the Four, avoiding Lady Dimitrescu as you go.

Once you’ve reached it, pop all four masks on the statues. If the big lady bothers you, simply run into the Merchant’s Room and she won’t follow you inside. Wait a few minutes and try again.

When the door opens, head through and smash the two vases for some Rusted Scrap and an Herb, then head through the door. Outside, there’s a vase on each side of you before you head up the stairs - break them open for some Chem Fluid and some Lei. Grab those and then head up the steps into the church. Go to the back of the church and interact to get a ceremonial dagger, kicking off your first proper boss fight. We have a dedicated Resident Evil Village - Lady Dimitrescu boss guide if you’re looking for some tips.

After you’ve taken her down, get Crystal Dimitrescu from her corpse and go on your merry way. Approach the altar at the end of the room and pick up the Dirty Flask to open the way forward.

Village People

When you’re outside, you can head into the little shack to save your game and grab some Rusted Scrap. There’s also an outhouse containing some Gunpowder around the back. When you’ve got everything, head to the door with torches next to it and shoot the padlock to open the way forward. Head down into the cave and you’ll come to some shallow water. Shoot the fish swimming in it and get, obviously, Fish. Do not sell the meat - you can use it in recipes to upgrade your health.

Head up towards the light and follow the voice of the crone. Once the cutscene ends, interact with the box on the shrine to open it up and get the Winged Key. Unbolt the double door covered in bones ahead and head through it, up the stairs. Pull the lever at the top of the stairs and step outside into the Ceremony Site. Ignore the plinth with the Umbrella symbol on it for now. Leave the Ceremony Site and take a right at the top of the stairs for a box with some Sniper Rifle Ammo in it, then head down the stairs. Stop halfway down and pull out your sniper rifle to deal with a bunch of werewolves ahead. If any get close, switch to your shotgun.

Once they’re dealt with, head down the stairs towards the raised bridge. You can’t do anything with it yet, but there’s a room under the stairs with a Goat of Warding inside. Break it and head back up the stairs and left up the next set of stairs. Check the side rooms here for some crafting components (there is a werewolf in one of them, so be careful) and then head on. Don’t worry about the lockbox for now.

Open the gates and you’ll find yourself back at the Altar with The Duke, bang in the middle of the village hub once more. Approach the merchant and it will trigger a cutscene. Once you’re done chatting, unlock the gate near The Duke by using the Winged Key. Shoot the padlock off the next gate and continue on into Maiden of War.

Go to the Church on the East of the graveyard and save your game inside - you’ll also see some things have changed in here and get a little more story detail. Outside, there’s a gate to the Northeast that you can now unlock by using the Iron Insignia Key. There are some chickens inside - kill them for some Poultry - and there’s also a box with some Lei.

Resident Evil Village - Find The House With The Red Chimney

Find the house with the red chimney RE8

Once you’re done, head through the building on the East of Maiden of War, marked on the map above, collecting the Wooden Body, then head into the stables on the other side - the smaller yellow circle - and move the bookcase blocking the way. Be careful, there’s a werewolf on the other side. Take a left at the crashed tractor. There’s a gate just ahead with a padlock - shoot it and head through. On the right, there’s a box with some Handgun Ammo. Opposite that, there’s a house. You’ll find a photograph inside - turn it around and you’ll see it says “look out the window” on the back. Look out and you’ll see some numbers: 070408.

Don’t mind the jump scare and shoot the werewolf in the face. Inside the building where you found the photograph, there’s a numeric padlock. Enter the combination: 070408. You’ll get the M1911 pistol for your trouble. You’ll also find the Jack Handle, which you need to take back to the tractor to lift it up and open up a new path. You’ll be attacked on your way there so take them all down, keeping as much distance between you and the enemies as possible. You can get a few free kills by using your sniper rifle to take out the enemies perched on rooftops. Jack the tractor up and crawl under.

On the other side, head forwards and turn right. Take out the werewolves ahead with the rifle and go towards where they were. Take a left at the end of this road and watch the rooftops for more werewolves. Kill them and continue South. At the end of the path here, you’ll find an armoured werewolf. A shotgun blast to the helmet should remove it and open them up to a clean headshot, though it will likely take more than one. Use a Pipe Bomb if you have one.

RE8 red chimney

When he’s done with, head left by shooting the padlock on the gate. There’s a box with some Shotgun Ammo that you undoubtedly need right now. Next to that, there’s a Goat of Warding on the low corrugated roof nearby. Shoot it. You can also go inside the building here, but watch out for the enemy lurking inside. There’s some Gunpowder, Handgun Ammo, and a Madalina (Body), a valuable, combinable item inside. Now head West and to the locked gate to use your Iron Insignia Key. Before you climb the ladder, go inside the building for some Lei and the Well Wheel - the latter allows you to go around the map hoovering up all those wells to get some extra items. Now climb the ladder.

Get the Metal Scrap and drop down with the chickens. Kill them for their Poultry, unlock the gate but don’t leave, grab the Gunpowder, and climb the ladder in the area where the chickens were. This is the house with the red chimney, as marked on the map above.

Follow the wire on the roof and drop down into the building. Make sure your shotgun is ready to deal with the werewolf inside. You’ll find another piece of the Winged Key inside - examine it to automatically combine it with the Winged Key, creating the Four-Winged Key. Now it’s time to head back to The Duke.
