If you followed Part 3 of our RE8 walkthrough, we've just made it past Heisenberg’s trap, we’re through the vineyard, and we’ve just met The Duke - Part 4 of our Resident Evil Village walkthrough is taking us to Castle Dimitrescu. Whatever you do, don’t call for your mommy - you might get more than you bargained for. Once you’ve done dealing with The Duke, head through the portcullis and into the castle.

Other RE8 Village Guides

In the reception room, head up the stairs and break the vase on your left to grab some Shotgun Ammo. Opposite that, there’s a cabinet with a glass front - smash the glass with your knife and grab the Gunpowder from inside. Next, take the room on the right of reception to grab some Lei, then take the door and head down the corridor opposite the room with the powered down elevator.

Walk all the way down the corridor and smash the vase at the end to get some Handgun Ammo, then head through the door. If you check your map, you should be in a room called Hall of the Four. Check the inscription on the door on the West side and you’ll trigger a cutscene.

Dimitrescu Sisters

When the cutscene is over, you’ll find yourself hanging from meat hooks in the Bedchamber, which isn’t very nice. Look up at your hand and interact to free yourself in the most painful way possible. Grab the Crimson Glass from the table opposite the fireplace. Once you have that, head through the door. To your left, there’s a locked drawer that you can open if you have a spare lockpick - you’ll find Shotgun Ammo inside. Open up the fireplace and crawl in.

Once you’ve crawled through, grab the Rusted Scrap immediately on your left when you stand up. Head down the end of this corridor and get the Maroon Eye Ring. The door ahead will open, allowing you to squeeze through. There’s a drawer in front of you with some Chem Fluid inside. Grab that and then bring up your map to head back to the Bedchamber so you can get Gunpowder from the drawers at this end of the corridor. You can also unlock the route to the Bedchamber from here if you like. When you’ve done that, head to the other end of the corridor and back to the Hall of the Four.

Maroon Four

When you enter, four statues will rise from the ground. Don’t worry about these just yet. Head up the main stairs and into the Main Hall. Unlock the door on the right, which leads back to Reception, just to make travelling through here easier later on. Now head up the stairs and take a right - smash the vase at the end of the balcony here to get some Handgun Ammo (there’s also some Lei and Gunpowder in vases on the other side, but come back to the right side once you grab it). Examine the Maroon Eye Ring in your inventory to remove the Maroon Eye, and use it on the door with the face on it. Once you’re through, you’ll be attacked by one of the Dimitrescu daughters.

There’s no point in wasting ammo here because your bullets have no effect. Just run and avoid contact with her. Head down the extravagant corridor and take a left, ignoring the locked door straight ahead. Head through the door at the end of the corridor and remove the planks covering a gap in the wall in the Dressing Room. Behind the boards, there’s a hole in the floor where you can drop down into the cellar below the castle.

Head down the steps, grab the Rusted Scrap on your left and continue down the corridor, crawling through the crawlspace ahead. Once you exit the crawlspace and into the Tasting Room, grab the Handgun Ammo on your right. Exit the Tasting Room and head down the stairs of the corridor ahead. As soon as the corridor opens up, turn left and smash the breakable box on the shelf for some Handgun Ammo, then head into the Hall of War - the room with the hanging sconce.

You need to shoot the sconce from the correct angle to make it fly into the two unlit torches at the edge of the room - doing so reveals an exit. Make your way through the dark dungeon, ignoring the cells - because there’s nothing of worth inside them - until you reach a note on a table and the way ahead is obstructed. Take a left from there and into the cell. Inside the wall has crumbled away, allowing you to walk into the cell next door. Exit that cell so you’re back in the corridor on the other side of the obstruction.

Continue down the corridor and don’t mind the body in the sack that falls from the ceiling. Just to the left of that, in a cell, there’s another breakable box with some Handgun Ammo inside. The cell next door has some Rusted Scrap and the one next door to that has some Metal Scrap. Exit that cell and take a left into the next room section of the cellar corridor. Get ready for a fight.

Here you’ll be attacked by slow-moving zombies. Aiming for the head is always a good shout, but don’t forget you can slow them down by shooting their legs and disarm them by shooting their weapon hand. Just keep your distance and chip away. In the new cellar section, there’s a room to your left with another breakable box and some Lei. Head through the hole in the wall here to the adjoining cells where you’ll find another breakable box, this time with a Pipe Bomb inside. But be careful - a zombie will crawl up out of a crawlspace as you approach.

Keep moving through the cellar, heading towards The Chamber of Solace. You’ll find another box with Lei on the way, as well as some more undead looking to make you join their club. Make sure you scout the ground for any Lei the enemies drop, and you also might find Ingrid’s Necklace around here. If you keep following the main path, you’ll find yourself in a room where light has broken through from above, giving you some respite from the darkness, but no respite from the zombies - keep shooting them as they turn up. There’s another cell here with a breakable box and some Handgun Ammo. Once you have it, exit the well-lit room by taking the stairs on the other side.

Dimitrescu Daughters

Follow the corridor around to the right and right again, grabbing the box with Lei as you pass. One of the daughters will turn up to attack you again here. Keep moving and follow the corridor around, aiming to exit via the stairs at the Southeast of the map. Pop into the cells along the way to smash some boxes and get some extra ammo.

Once you’re up the stairs, take a right and go straight ahead, grabbing the Chem Fluid. To your left, there are some planks blocking the way - interact with them to pull them away, triggering a cutscene.

Now the window has been smashed, the vampire lady is vulnerable to your bullets. Fill her with close-range shotgun shells to take her out quickly. Once she’s dead, if you head back down the corridor you came from but pass by the stairs, there’s some Shotgun Ammo at the end. Once you have it, head back to the room with the broken window. Grab any ammo left in the room and exit through the open door. In the next room, you’ll find a key item: Sanguis Virginis. There’s also some Rusted Scrap and a breakable box filled with Lei in here.

When you exit the room there’s a drawer on your left that you can open with a lockpick, grabbing a Wooden Angel Statue, and there’s a metal case you can open freely just ahead - the case contains the Recoil Compensator upgrade for the LEMI pistol. You must manually equip gun parts in your inventory. If you need a lockpick, there’s one at the other end of the corridor you’re in.

Exit through the door near the lockpick and you’ll find yourself in the Dining Room. From here you can head back to the Main Hall, which takes us to the next part of our Resident Evil Village walkthrough. Click the Next link below:
