A new trailer just droppedA new trailer just dropped for Resident Evil: Death Island, the upcoming CG film that brings the whole gang together for the first time, ever. Leon, Chris, Claire, Jill, and even Rebecca all star in a film that takes them to San Francisco to investigate a sudden zombie outbreak. After tracing the source to Alcatraz Island, they discover a new villain, some zombie sharks, and an aerosolized version of the T-Virus "where a new horror awaits."

Death Island is supposed to take place right after the events of Resident Evil 5, which means it's been a few years since the Mansion incident and the utter destruction of Raccoon City. And while Chris seems to have weathered the dustups with the undead, Claire, Jill, and Rebecca all look like they haven't aged a day. It turns out, we might already know the reason why.

As noted by Twitter user Sonny Bauer, all three Resident Evil women have been infected by some sort of virus. Jill got infected with the T-Virus in Resident Evil 5, Claire was infected by the T-Phobos virus in Resident Evil: Revelations 2, and Rebecca got infected with the A-Virus in the 2017 film, Resident Evil: Vendetta.

"They’re not…they’re not really going to go there, are they…? Bauer asks. The 'Young and Hot Forever Virus' carriers."

That could very well be the case. We know for certain that the T-Virus slows the signs of aging thanks to an official tweet from the Resident Evil Twitter account saying as much. While the T-Virus has given Jill some "psychological scars," it's also "slowed her aging." That accounts for Jill of course, who was "cured" of her T-Virus (and Wesker's brainwashing) at the end of Resident Evil 5, but it doesn't seem like it'd be much of a stretch to say the T-Phobos and A-Viruses have the same effect.

Today's trailer showed us a lot of action, with guns and explosions and zombie sharks, but we still don't know how Claire gets involved. We know Jill and Chris contact Rebecca to tackle the zombie outbreak, while Leon is on the hunt for an abducted scientist. Claire just seems to show up. We know that Raccoon City will at least appear as part of a flashback, but that's about it.

Resident Evil: Death Island arrives July 7 in Japanese theaters.
