Rebecca Chambers debuted in Chris Redfield's campaign in the original Resident Evil, garnering enough popularity to warrant her own prequel, Resident Evil 0, which told of her horrendous journey to the Spencer Mansion.

Since then, she hasn't been utilized very much which isn't too uncommon for side-characters in the franchise - just look at Piers and Sheva. Nonetheless, there have been trickles of references, information, and storylines since so here are ten things that you may not have known about this S.T.A.R.S. alumni.

10 She Was Modelled After Ayumi Hamasaki

In the leadup to Resident Evil 0 (or Bioharzard 0 in Japan)Ayumi Hamasaki, a Japanese pop-star, lent her hand in promoting the survival horror tie-in to the original.

Her influences on the game didn't stop there, however, as they modeled Rebecca's appearance in on Ayumi herself, hence the striking resemblance.

9 She Didn't Resurface Until 2017

Chambers' last appearance in the flesh was in 0, a prequel, meaning that her last canonical appearance was actually back in the very first Resident Evil. That was until 2017. when the CGI film Vendetta dropped.

Here, we see how far Rebecca has come, leaping from the position of a police officer to a scientist, donning the typical white garb and black-framed glasses to boot. In this film, she even butts heads with her old pal Chris and the icon that is Leon Kennedy.

8 She Joined The BSAA As An Advisor

The BSAA was formed in the wake of Umbrella's collapse and saw many ex-S.T.A.R.S. members leap into the fold which makes sense given their history dealing with Umbrella's slew of crimes.

Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine had a much more involved role with the BSAA whilst Rebecca joined as an advisor, opting to play the role of scientist more than footsoldier as her peers had continued to.

7 The Canonical Ending Has Rebecca Survive The Mansion Incident

Given that Rebecca appeared in Vendetta which is set long after the events of Resident Evil, it's clear that she survived the horrendous events of the Spencer Mansion which makes perfect sense given the mess that she and Billy Cohen went through prior.

In the game itself, when playing as Chris Redfield, Rebecca can die in two scenarios. However, given the continuation of her story, it's clear that these paths aren't considered canon.

6 After Raccoon City, She Went Back To Earn Her Doctorate

Perhaps fueled by the impending doom of mortality that had been thrown at her at such a young age in all its terror through both the Spencer Mansion and the fall of Raccoon City, Rebecca decided to continue her studies and earn her doctorate.

Her doctorate was in the field of virology which she carefully chose so that she could help those fighting in the field more than she already was.

5 You Can Find A Picture Of Her On Wesker's Desk After Interacting 50 Times

Weirdly enough, in both the original Resident Evil 2 and its subsequent remake, a photo of Rebecca can be found at Wesker's desk in the S.T.A.R.S. office. In the original game, you have to interact with it a hefty 50 times to get a photo of her in her basketball uniform.

In the remake, when you head up the elevator in the sewers to get the chess piece that raises the bridge, there's some roll film on the desk. Head back to the prison, develop it, and then you'll learn of a hiding spot in Wesker's desk. At first glance, all you'll see is a wooden box but interact again to nab some more roll film which, when developed, reveals the photo of Rebecca which has even been remastered.

4 She Wore A Beret In The Original Resident Evil 0 For The N64

Originally, Resident Evil 0 was intended to release on the N64 but this didn't happen. The Rebecca of that version had a slightly different look to her final release on the GameCube, donning a white beret that matched her vest.

However, in the newer versions, you can actually acquire a skin that acts as a homage to this nearly-forgotten look of the original vision for the game. Maybe she looked up to Jill or maybe she just dug berets. Who knows?

3 Her Mentor Was Richard Aiken

At the time of the Spencer Mansion incident, Rebecca was new to S.T.A.R.S. so she had her very own mentor in the form of Richard Aiken. Unfortunately, not every member of the team made it out alive, Aiken included.

He was poisoned but, as Chris Redfield, you are given the opportunity to find him some serum to help out. Nonetheless, even you succeed, a B.O.W. later ends his life. As such, Rebecca's short-lived mentor never made it back to Raccoon City.

2 She Is The Youngest S.T.A.R.S. Member

When Rebecca Chambers joined S.T.A.R.S., she was only eighteen years old. Imagine teaming up with a framed convict, fighting a slew of other-worldly monsters only to reach a mansion where you watch most of your comrades die at such a young age. That's gotta leave a scar!

She was brilliant growing up, enrolling in university at a younger age, earning a degree in chemistry at only eighteen. This likely ties into why she's the one who can mix herbs in 0. In 1998, she was hand-picked for the Bravo Team.

1 She Was Infected With The A-Virus

There have been two other characters in the franchise to find themselves infected with some sort of virus. The first being Jill Valentine and the second being Chris' sister, Claire Redfield, who you play as in 2, Code Veronica and Revelations 2. However, Rebecca joined their ranks in Vendetta when she was infected with the A-Virus.

This caused her to drastically change in appearance, with sickly pale skin and harrowing roots emerging across her body. The person who gave her this virus was none other than Glenn Arias, a former CIA agent turned bioweapons dealer.
