Ascension has arrived in Apex Legends. With it comes a new Legend, a new map, a new vehicle, and a brand new Battle Pass that has been overhauled to be easier to understand, but also way more grindy than the previous Battle Pass. So grindy, in fact, that Apex Legends are calling out Respawn's cash grab.

The new Battle Pass has 110 tiers, with each tier requiring 10 stars to complete. Challenges now provide players with stars instead of XP, making it easier to understand how many challenges need to be completed per tier.

Unfortunately, the challenges are so hard and the XP requirements per tier so high that players are saying that there's no way to finish the Battle Pass without paying for tiers, which is pretty outrageous if you already paid for the Battle Pass.

Redditor Sp00kyGamer did the math (a lot of math, actually), but the gist is that you’re going to spend your life playing Apex Legends if you want to get all 110 of those Battle Pass tiers. “The old system was a lot easier on the player if they missed a bunch of daily challenges as it was WAY easier to gain levels via XP,” they wrote, “and you could get 2 free levels just from completing 10 daily missions a week..."

Sp00kyGamer is certainly not alone in their complaints. Fellow Apex player GrubbyLilPaws noted yesterday that "5 daily challenges, 20,000 xp, 3 Top 5s, and 1 win with 8 kills" only got them to level 2 of Battle Pass.

Public outcry with the new Battle Pass has reached the point where Respawn has taken note. In a tweet earlier today, Respawn announced that they're going to tone down the tier requirements on the Battle Pass to something approaching reasonable, cutting the XP requirements per star in half and also making Weekly Challenges "take much less time to complete."

Sp00kyGamer doesn't think it's enough, and others are accusing Respawn of using an underhanded negotiating tactic to make it seem like they're the good guys for reducing the requirements even though they're still way too high.
