Respawn Entertainment has finally responded to the growing number of leaks and data mines of their hit game, Apex Legends.

In a Reddit post on Tuesday, a representative of Respawn Entertainment clarified some things about recent rumors of the upcoming Battle Pass and the leaked Legends supposedly on their way soon. The post came soon after a data miner uncovered half a dozen new heroes buried in game files.

First of all, the Respawn Community Manager wanted to make sure everyone knew the Battle Pass would not be out that day. Rumors had been swirling for some time that March 12th would be the launch of the Battle Pass, but in the end there was never any substantial evidence, and avid gamers will have to wait a little while longer. Not too much longer, though - the post clarified that we'll get more information "very soon."

Next, the poster went on to cover the recently leaked Legends.

"There’s stuff in there that is very old, or things we’ve tried in the past and cut... finding this stuff by no means confirms that it’ll ever come out," they write.

While gamers in the Reddit thread were disappointed, there was at least some acknowledgment that they have mostly been building up the hype themselves, and Respawn can't be responsible for their disappointment. All in all, it was a good move for the Apex Legends developer to get involved in the conversation, lest their silence be seen as confirmation one way or the other.

So for now, we're still left with no official word on any upcoming characters for Apex Legends. The names Wattson and Octane have come up a lot, and there was a huge amount of excitement for the new leaks from Monday. Still, there is no way to tell what is just left in the game files from cut content, what's been expertly faked, and what is still in development. We'll just have to wait and see, and hope Respawn fills us in soon.
