EA and Respawn have just announced a whopping three new Star Wars games that are currently in development. This confirms earlier rumors that Respawn was hard at work on the next Jedi Fallen Order game as well as an as-yet-unnamed first-person shooter that wasn't set in the Titanfall universe.

EA describes the announcement as a "new phase" in the working relationship with Lucasfilm. Vince Zampella, Respawn founder and general manager, will oversee work on all three games.

The first game is unsurprising, given recent reports. Stig Asmussen is heading up the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the surprise 2019 hit that drew critical acclaim and several awards as well.

Star Wars Old Republic

Second is an all-new Star Wars first-person shooter headed by game director Peter Hirschmann. Hirschmann has been a director at Respawn for the past six years and is most recently credited with the VR game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.

“Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,” said Hirschmann.

The third game will be a joint production between Respawn and the newly-formed indie studio Bit Reactor. Headed by XCOM veterans and focused on creating quality turn-based tactics games, we can safely assume that this team-up between Respawn and Bit Reactor will result in a turn-based tactical strategy game.

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn,” said Douglas Reilly, VP at Lucasfilm Games. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

All three games are currently in development, with Fallen Order 2 rumored to be revealed before this year's E3. We should also note a fourth Star Wars game in development. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced last September and is rumored to arrive sometime in 2023. It's not being made by either BioWare or Respawn, according to a recent leak.
