After the starting cutscenes, the game leaves you in the wild to discover and explore the world around you lurking with dangers, and in the good old survival fashion, you have to find a way to stay alive while battling the weather, and your body at the same time.

Look Around With A Keen Eye

Retreat To Enen Item Crosshair

While it is a basic tip to look around properly in any game, it becomes even more important when you're playing Retreat To Enen. The game is very immersive, and it doesn't give you anything for free. You can go past an important item and completely miss it without even realizing it.

Even basic materials like Wood, Rock, or Clay are hard to spot in a green area. This makes it very important to keep your perspective towards the ground so any interactable item lights up when it's in the middle of your screen.

There's a little trick to identifying items on the ground in the game. Whenever the center of your screen is around an item on the ground, you will get a tiny white crosshair on your screen. Look in that direction when you get it, and you'll find something useful.

Quantum Control Needs To Be Used Sparingly

Retreat To Enen Place To Restore Quantum Control

Apart from the three usual stats at the bottom-right of your screen, there's a fourth one called Quantum Control. This is a sort of energy that is used in everything you do, including just walking or running. Certain items in the game require you to activate Quantum Control which makes this bar deplete even faster.

If you find some blue orbs around the map, you can meditate at this place to regain Quantum Control. If this bar runs out, you won't be able to sprint or interact with any of these things in the game.

Other than making sure you deactivate Quantum Control whenever it's not in use, you can also be more efficient with it by turning it off once you start an animation like interacting with dead animals.

Be Aware Of The Lurking Dangers

Retreat To Enen Snake

Items that you can pick up aren't the only things that are immersed in the world of Retreat To Enen. One of the hardest dangers to spot in the game is snakes. These are dark-colored animals that are found in grassy areas making it impossible to locate them until you get nearby.

Apart from dealing a bit of damage, a bite from these sneaky buggers can also apply the poison effect that can be significantly hard to get rid of in the early game. If you do get this effect, you can get rid of it by making an Antipoison in the Cooking Pot.

You Can Easily Find Your Home

Retreat To Enen Home Icon

No matter how far you venture, you can always find your way back to your spawn using the home symbol that is displayed on the screen. So, it's perfect if you make your first base near this area, so you can easily find it and don't get lost in this vast world.

Other than the home icon, you will have two more icons on the screen which are the spots that let you move to the next area, once you unlock it. These can be hard to see if you're on the beach though, so try to get to a grassy area to find it.

Save The Game At Your Basic Tent

Retreat To Enen Basic Tent Save

Retreat To Enen does NOT save automatically. To save the game early on, you need to head over to your basic tent and hold the interaction button. This will take you to the Save screen where you can choose a slot you want to save on.

Upon saving, you can exit the game through the menu. If you quit without saving, the game will begin at your last save point, and you'll be losing all of your progress.

Make Sure You Turn Off The Campfire

Retreat To Enen Campfire

The game will ask you to create a campfire at the start which takes a few basic ingredients. Further, you can place a Cooking Pot on top of it, you can cook items that will get rid of the negative effects and increase your hunger, thirst, and health bar.

It is important to turn off the campfire after you're done with it because keeping it on will consume fuel that can quickly power through your Wood. The same goes for Furnaces and Smokes. It can be a little tricky to turn off the campfire as the prompt messes with the Cooking Pot's prompt sometimes.

You Can Find Everything On Your Watch

Retreat To Enen Watch Menu

There are two types of menus in the game. Firstly, you can simply press Esc to pause the game and change your settings or quit to desktop. You can press Tab on PC to access your watch which is the second and the most important menu in the game.

Here, you can find all of your crafting recipes, building items, inventory, and food items. Other than that, you can also check out the current time of the day which can be useful as you need to go to sleep around 19:00 at the start of the game to avoid being too cold.

Finally, you can look at all the things you unlock whenever you level up in the game by interacting with any ruins.

Main Objective

Retreat To Enen Cutscene

When you're starting off the game, a lot of your concentration will go towards simply making it through the day without passing out from hunger or thirst. But, there is another objective that players are required to complete to get to another area.

There are three ruins located across every single area in the game (a total of three areas). To progress to the next area, you need to find these ruins and head over to them while it's still morning. Here, you'll find the same blue areas that you use to regain Quantum Control, except they'll be yellow.

You're required to meditate for a certain amount of time in all of these ruins to unlock the next area and so on until you reach the final one.

Keep An Eye On Your Health

Retreat To Enen Freshwater Source

In the beginning, the game will ask you to drink water from ponds, as they mislead you into thinking that it's fresh water. Unfortunately, there is a chance that you'll acquire a negative effect while drinking this water that will slowly drain your health.

Similarly, the poison also drains your health and with the number of dangers present in the game, it can be significantly hard to keep a track of your health. Further, you will also lose health if you're starving or too thirsty.

The game notifies you when your health is too low but if you're caught far away with no way to get rid of the negative effects, you'll not be able to do anything about it. So, it'd be a good idea to keep a check on your health, food, and water bars at the bottom.

One of the best ways to regain a good amount of health is to eat Large Cooked Meat. This can be acquired from chickens and pigs after you kill them using a spear or a bow. Raw meat can be cooked on a furnace that you can make using the crafting menu in the survival tab.

If you eat cooked meat when you already have a negative effect (this can be seen on the bottom-right of your screen as well), you won't gain any health and waste the meat by only getting your food bar up. Make sure you get rid of the effect first.
