Super Mario Bros. first landed in households in the early 80s. Gamers worked hard to travel through worlds to rescue the stolen Princess and restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom. Long-time fans who grew up with the series were confused when she appeared in Super Mario World with long blonde hair.

These hair changes were either made because Peach wanted to be blonde, but it was most likely due to the technical limitations of consoles at that time.

With a name like "Peach," one could easily assume that she has the power of fruit. The name isn't too outlandish since she can throw fruit in Super Mario Bros. 2. However, Peach's powers primarily use the power of love. Her powers all include various colors of hearts with different abilities. She is also shown to be extremely caring and thoughtful of her friends. These powerful love-related emotions intensify depending on which of her friends, like Mario, are in danger.

Bowser has a well-known one-sided crush on Princess Peach. After decades of being stolen, she can't stand the King Koopa. Bowser sent his only son, Bowser Jr. in Super Mario Sunshine to capture her.

Bowser Jr. called the Princess Peach his "Mama," which shocked her.

To many, it appeared that she believed his claim, even though it's obvious they weren't related. Bowser. Jr. may have wished Princess Peach was his mother or was brainwashed by his father to believe it was true.

18 Does Her Dress Grant This Ability?

via: fanpop.com

Princess Peach's elegant dress isn't just a fashion statement. It gives her a unique power that no one else in the series has. Since Super Mario Bros. 2, Peach can float for long distances. If she hops on an enemy, this will prolong her float distance. This allows her to travel much further than Mario and Luigi's basic jumps. Her floating ability has appeared in other games, such as in the Super Smash Bros. games. The only issue with floating in Super Smash Bros. is that she has to take care not to drift off of the stage.

Peach has more abilities than most realize, but she can also target them to specific groups. In Mario Super Sluggers, Peach can launch a "Heart Swing" that is fueled with the power of love. Peach draws a heart with the bat in the air, which casts magic on the ball. Once used, it will stun any fielder who tries to catch the ball. This attack only works on male players and a few others such as Boo, Wiggler, and Blooper. All females are immune to the effects of this attack.

Super Mario Galaxy begins with Peach inviting Mario to the Star Festival. Unfortunately, Peach and her castle end up being captured by Bowser. He transports her to a brand-new galaxy that he has created. Peach is not trapped in her home in the middle of an amazing universe. Mario must then hop from different planets to rescue Peach.

What isn't explained is how Peach can survive in the middle of space in Bowser's Galaxy.

Most humans couldn't survive in space without special equipment. This has led to speculation that Mario and Peach aren't human.

15 A Fungus Among Us

When Princess Peach originally made her debut in North America, she was named Princess Toadstool. Peach appears to be human, even though her former name says differently.

There are characters in the series that Peach refers to as relatives. She calls Toadsworth her Grandpa and a senior Toad, Grandma. Peach may be calling these toads terms of endearment, or she may be the descendant of Toad people. The only family Peach has that have been confirmed by Nintendo are the Mushroom King and Queen from the Nintendo Comics System series.

14 It Can’t Save Her From Bowser

Peach first showed off her the "Floating Jump" ability in Super Mario Bros. 2 and the Super Smash Bros. series. Players hold down the jump button, and Peach will float for a short distance. Thanks to this ability, she can jump and hover for much longer distances than Mario, Luigi, or Toad.

Unfortunately, she hasn't utilized this ability to jump past King Koopa. He always finds a way of catching her in the end. It may be because Floating Jump can only propel her in a horizontal, forward path.

During Super Paper Mario, the main characters are put under a spell by Count Bleck. Mario, Luigi, Peach, and even Bowser have to find a way to escape Bleck's castle. With the help of Dimentio and Private Koopa, Peach escapes, but she needs help from the others. Luigi helps without much convincing, but Bowser isn't so quick to agree.

Princess has to convince Bowser to help her and the Mario brothers.

Though Bowser doesn't want to team up with his enemies, he reluctantly agrees this time. If only Peach could persuade Bowser to stop capturing her.

Princess Peach has proved to be an intelligent, capable fighter. She can defend herself in battle if she isn't taken by surprise. In Super Princess Peach, she wields several magical abilities, but still uses Perry the Umbrella to replace them. Peach can float over long distances but uses Perry's Floatbrella, which is almost identical to her Super Mario Bros. 2 ability. Even Perry can move independently of Princess Peach. They may enjoy each other's company and don't want to be alone on Vibe Island.

The Super Smash Bros. series has transformed several beloved video game characters into toys battling to be the best. Princess Peach is included on the roster and has several abilities to help her in battle. One of those moves consists of the "Peach Bomber." Peach unleashes a mighty side bash that can end in a blast of flowers or a fiery heart-filled explosion. Smash Bros. transforms Peach into a lethal fighter. If only these powerful moves could keep her safe in the ongoing Mario Bros. series.

The Mario series isn't restricted to platformers. Mario and his friends have also appeared in sports and party games. Princess Peach is always included as a playable character, such as a tennis star in Mario Tennis, Super Mario Kart, Mario Golf, and Super Mario Strikers.

These cameos prove how athletic Peach is, perhaps more than her friends, Mario and Luigi.

Peach even participated in the crossover game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. She is so famous that she's made cameos in non-Mario games, such as NBA Street V3, SSX on Tour.

9 She Knows How To Move

via: smashboards.com

Princess Peach is the highest ranking royalty within the Mushroom Kingdom, but she shares similar powers to her Mario friends. Princess Peach has shown that she can jump over platforms and hit blocks to unlock power-ups. She can also pound the ground to knock down groups of enemies.

Peach can defend herself, similar to her friends, but since she is high-ranking, is a bigger target. Bowser and his allies monitor her closely and strike when possible. It's no wonder she can't use her abilities: she doesn't have time to defend herself from their constant attacks.

8 Relies On More Than Magic

via: gamesradar.com

Princess Peach's primary form of communication are letters. She uses them to invite Mario to parties but also to warn Mario of danger or to ask for help. In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Peach doesn't have access to stationery. She uses the power of telepathy to contact Mario.

In Dark Land, she appears before her friend as a hologram to warn him of impending danger. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story shows that this power is so strong that she throws King Koopa from the castle into the middle of a forest.

7 Has An Attack For Every Occasion

via: aminoapps.com

Peach has proved herself to be athletic, telepathic, and filled with explosive power. The Super Mario Adventures comic and Super Mario RPG have shown her to be a mistress of explosive devices.

Peach's "Psych Bomb" attack allows her to conjure a Bob-omb and throw it at her opponents.

She also used them when trapped in the middle of the Koopalings. Though Peach's powers are often linked to hearts, such as the Super Smash Bros. series and Super Princess Peach, she always has another trick waiting for her enemies.

6 Isn’t Restricted To Causing Harm

Mario tries his best to defeat Bowser's enemies and restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom. He has several friends to help him along the way. Princess Peach travels with Mario to Prism island in Paper Mario: Color Splash. Mario can visit her in the Port Prisma hotel, where she will heal his HP.

Later in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Peach again has healing abilities. She can use Therapy and Group Hug to heal Mario and his entire party. Though Peach often finds herself in trouble, she does her best to help others during difficult times.
