I think we’re all pretty familiar with the Nickelodeon show Rugrats. Even if you were like me and didn’t have cable growing up, you still knew characters like Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, and Phil and Lil DeVille. And if you knew those four, then you definitely understood that Angelica Pickles was far from the coolest character in the show. She was a straight up bully.

It’s not nice to be mean to small children. And if you’re a 3-year-old that is doing this to kids that are roughly the same age as you, then you’re far from a good person. If you grew up watching Rugrats, Angelica was the equivalent of someone who made fun of you you at school. She was a liar. She pranked people. She stole things from the “dumb babies.” More than anything, Angelica was a spoiled brat who always got what she wanted.

She really can be viewed as a ringleader in the sense that she always got the kids to basically do whatever she wanted. That is, until the Rugrats realized Angelica was using them for her own gain. Surprisingly, she got away with this a lot, even though the Rugrats are actually very smart. How she was able to constantly prank and belittle the kids is beyond me. But I guess the writers needed somebody’s evil antics to drive the show’s plot.

So here are some facts about Angelica Pickles, although most of these are just statements regarding her behavior. Maybe this will give you some insight on just how weird Angelica really is.

25 What's In A Name?

via lipstickalley.com

Angelica’s full name is actually Angelica Charlotte Pickles. Her middle name was passed down to her by her mother, Charlotte Pickles. Personally, I always thought it was weird when parents named their children this way. It seems somewhat conceited, but that’s my own personal preference.

Who knows? Maybe Charlotte just wanted to pass on her beautiful and powerful genes to her daughter? I mean, Charlotte is very much so a leader in her career field and Angelica almost has that same mindset. First the Rugrats, then the world? Remember though kids: bossiness doesn’t get you what you want. You should still be a good, peaceful person that wants to do what’s best for the company as a whole.

24 All In The Family

via: rugrats.wikia.com

This is basic knowledge for anybody that’s watched the show. At the same time, if you have watched Rugrats religiously and had no clue that Angelica was related to Tommy and Dil, I’d really be concerned. Come on, they even have the same last name, and Drew and Stu are brothers, so, yes.

Angelica is Tommy and Dil’s cousin.

Sure, this isn’t a relationship that’s remotely close to a sibling. But still, that has to be pretty awful, saying that you’re related to someone like Angelica. And yet, I wonder how Angelica was able to get away with being mean to her own cousins. Oh, that’s right. Because in her parents’ eyes, she’s this adorable angel. Family really will get you first if you're not careful.

23 There Can Be Only One

via pinterest.com

This is a nice fun fact that I wish I would've considered sooner. But out of all the main cast, Angelica is the only character who stays an only child throughout the entire series. Tommy starts out being Didi and Stu’s only child, but this changes later with the arrival of Dil. And after Chaz’s marriage to Kira, Chuckie gets a step-sister, Kimi.

Now, there is an episode where Charlotte thinks she’s pregnant but this ends up not being so. Even Susie Carmichael has a couple of siblings. The writers more than likely kept Angelica as an only child to stick with her being a spoiled and bratty child that gets whatever she wants. Without another baby in the picture, she's free to enjoy undivided attention from her parents.

22 Multi-Generational Speech

via: twitter.com

Both Angelica and Susie are at an age where they can speak to both the toddlers and grown-ups. This is interesting because characters like Tommy and Chuckie can only speak to kids a couple years older than them, and the grown-ups can only understand Angelica. Of course, this is the main reason why Angelica gets away with the antics that she does.

The babies can’t even speak to the grown-ups in order to defend themselves.

Even though Chuckie is a bit younger than Angelica, he doesn’t have the ability to speak to any of the grown-ups just yet. This could be due to his very shy behavior, but that changes when the Rugrats go to Paris. No wonder the babies have a hard time dealing with Angelica. They can't call out for help.

21 She's No American Idol

via: youtube.com

For some reason, Angelica thinks she can sing very well, thus leading her to perform several times throughout the series. However, she’s actually a terrible singer and her parents don’t even bother to tell her that. Of course, Angelica gets pretty jealous when Susie starts getting more attention from the Rugrats because she can sing beautifully.

It always interested me seeing the rivalry between Angelica and Susie because they’re definitely the complete opposites of one another.

Susie is kind toward the babies and always looks out for them, whereas Angelica constantly pranks and bullies the kids so that she can get her way. No wonder the toddlers like Susie better. She’s nice and helpful. And she can sing.

20 Lovesick

via buzzfeed.com

Throughout the series, Angelica had several romantic love interests. However, most of these crushes never lasted long and were basically used as subplots to move the story along. At one point, Angelica developed a crush on Timmy McNulty, a young boy who’s literally just like Angelica in his mannerisms. Of course she likes him, he's a spoiled brat too!

In a two-part episode of Season 6, Susie and Angelica compete for Timmy’s affections by seeing who can create the best valentine to give him. In the end, though, he takes pieces from each valentine and uses them for a silly game, much to the anger of the girls. Guess that goes to show that maybe having crushes at the age of 4 isn’t really a good thing.

Let’s be real here. Every little kid enjoys the anticipation of waiting for warm and delicious cookies to come out of the oven. At a young age, we were taught to practice patience when it came to waiting for cookies and most importantly, sharing if need be. But this is Angelica we’re talking about.

Patience and sharing are beyond her.

There are so many shenanigans Angelica tries to pull when it comes to literally stealing cookies, be it from the cookie jar or the “dumb babies.” She’s very obsessed with cookies and always wants to eat them, even though at her age, that’s far from a healthy option. She also loves candy and does everything she can to get that as well.

18 What Kid Doesn't Dislike This Veggie?

via smosh.com

Going off of that sweet statement, it should come as no surprise that Angelica hates broccoli with a passion. Her tastes in food really do sound like any other little kid’s. However, I don’t think the writers ever gave a reason as to why Angelica hated broccoli. And I would have to assume that Angelica just hates all vegetables in general. Vegetables probably aren't very fond of her either.

Once again, this is proof that Angelica could potentially grow up in an unhealthy way, especially if her parents accepted her not eating her veggies, which knowing them, I’m sure they did. Here’s to hoping that her eating lifestyle changed at least a little bit. No matter how the child is, eating vegetables is very important.

17 Disappearing Act

via youtube.com

This is the part where I start discussing all the evil pranks and shenanigans Angelica pulled on the Rugrats. Dil is given several of Tommy’s old toys, and Angelica convinces Tommy that once all of his old toys are given away, he will disappear. She even pretends that Susie once had a sister named Yvonne who disappeared when her old stuff was given away.

Talk about devious and underhanded!

Of course, all of this is far from true and there isn’t really a set benefit Angelica gets from this other than messing with her younger cousin. However, the episode ends with Angelica’s dad telling her that he might give her old toys to Tommy, which freaks her out. Karma’s real, Angelica. Watch out.

16 Trading Places

via sharetv.com

In the episode ‘Family Reunion’, Angelica explains to Tommy what family reunions are. But Tommy misinterprets this as other grown-ups wanting to take him away from his parents. Of course Angelica, being who she is, decides to roll with this and lies, saying that Tommy will be taken away from his family “forever.”

After meeting his cousins Timmy, Tony, and Tammy, some of Tommy’s distant relatives come up to him. One asks if he’d like to go home with her. This sends Tommy into a panic, leaving him to devise a plan with his cousins to escape the playpen and run away before they are separated from their families. Although, what would be wrong with going home with somebody when it is a family member? At least it’s not a stranger.

15 An Oscar-Worthy Performance

via: weknowmemes.com

You know you’re spoiled and needy when you decide to fake a broken leg just to get your way. In ‘Angelica Breaks a Leg,’ Angelica pretends to fall down the stairs and break her leg so that Didi, Stu, and Grandpa Lou will give her more attention. Due to a name mix-up at the hospital, a doctor says that Angelica’s leg is broken and that she will need to be taken care of.

Stu gives Angelica a buzzer that she can use to get her uncle and aunt’s attention when she needs something and, of course, she really abuses this.

Stu making chocolate pudding at 4 in the morning to satisfy Angelica’s needs has become a huge meme for all the right reasons. This right here is a great episode to show just how ruthless Angelica can be.

14 An Old Wives Tale

via keen.tv

Growing up, I’m sure you always heard that if you ate any seeds from any type of fruit or vegetable, it will begin to grow in your stomach and cause you to explode. This isn’t even possible, but does Angelica manage to convince Chuckie of this? Of course, she does. Heck, she constantly freaks Chuckie out, since, due to his temperament, he’s the easiest Rugrat to pick on.

The babies decide that they need to go inside Chuckie to get a watermelon seed out. While “inside,” Angelica decides to water the seed while inside him, because she’s just that evil and mischievous. But don’t worry. Everybody makes it out fine. And Chuckie doesn’t explode. Still, what a terrible thing to tell a baby!

13 Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

via rugrats.wikia.com

I think any Rugrats fan will admit that the episode ‘Angelica’s Worst Nightmare’ is one of the scariest ones because of everything that occurs in it. First, there’s the theory that Charlotte could’ve been pregnant but ended up losing it, which is a pretty dark theme for the show to focus on if that were the case.

There’s also, of course, Angelica’s nightmare.

She has a dream where her parents have a baby boy. Both Charlotte and Drew forget about Angelica in the dream, and Angelica’s nightmare progresses into this new sibling threatening to eat her and turn her into “num-nums.” Frankly, I think that kind of nightmare would freak anyone out. It also doesn't help that the imagery in the episode is pretty unsettling.

12 Sibling Rivalry

via: youtube.com

While staying at Phil and Lil’s house, Angelica grows very tired of being left out since the two siblings always play together since they’re twins. To stir some trouble, Angelica decides to ask the two who’s the favorite and which one is the reject. This causes some hysteria as the twins want to know which is which.

So Angelica uses some of her usual mind games to turn the twins against one another. Sure, that makes things more interesting in the DeVille household, but just how much of that would Phil and Lil’s parents be able to take before snapping on one of their kids? Seriously. They wouldn’t play favorites with their children. It’s very frowned upon to do that.

11 That Little Thief!

via hardcoversandheroines.com

Like I mentioned earlier, Angelica loves sweets. A lot. So when she gets the opportunity to order a lot of desserts, why wouldn’t she? In the episode ‘Angelica Orders Out,' Stu invents a voice changer. When used by Angelica, it causes her to sound exactly like her mother. So, she uses this to her advantage by ordering a lot of sweets and asking her father to buy a playhouse set for her Cynthia doll.

But Angelica once again gets caught and is forced to eat all the flan that she ordered, even though she hates the taste. Stu locks the voice changer up in his failed experiments safe. I mean, isn’t Angelica more or less going to end up like her mother anyway? She sure knows how to get her way.

10 Future Crazy Cat Lady

via yourcatwasdelicious.tumblr.com

So, Angelica has a cat named Fluffy. The cat basically acts just like Angelica does. She’s mean and rambunctious, and she also looks just like Angelica would if she were a cat. In ‘Fluffy vs. Spike,’ Angelica brings Fluffy over to Tommy’s house. Fluffy, being mean and spiteful, decides to trash the house and who does this get blamed on? Poor Spike, Tommy’s dog. This episode made us so mad.

In order to prove Spike’s innocence, Tommy and the gang decide to try and get evidence of Fluffy’s wrongdoings. I think it really says something when a pet also acts like you. It’s one thing to have Angelica Pickles causing trouble. But it’s another when she also has a cat that acts the same way.

9 No Future In Dentistry

via pinterest.com

Angelica is greedy and she will do whatever it takes to get what she wants, including money. She learns about the Tooth Fairy, who comes to kids’ rooms at night and replaces teeth underneath their pillows with money. Wanting as much money as she can get, Angelica sets her eyes on Chuckie’s two front teeth and comes up with elaborate schemes to take them out of his mouth.

It’s beyond crazy for Angelica to even consider doing this because I’m pretty sure that Chuckie’s two front teeth are permanent.

If she had actually managed to remove one of them, that would be a pretty serious issue. Think of all the medical bills, Angelica. Sheesh. She doesn't respect anyone, especially when they have something she wants.

8 Out Of This World

via rugrats.wikia.com

So this is by far the most ridiculous statement Angelica’s made about anybody. But do the Rugrats believe it? Of course they do. Because if they didn’t, we wouldn’t have an episode. In ‘The Alien,’ Angelica convinces the toddlers that Chuckie is an alien from outer space sent to Earth to “capture” humans.

Now, one would think that the kids wouldn’t believe this. “No Angelica, you’re wrong. Chuckie is our best friend, and we’ve known him for so long. He couldn’t possibly be an alien.” Regardless, she convinces them of this, making them basically alienate Chuckie from the group. And yes, the wording there was intentional. Poor Chuckie. Why does he always have to be so susceptible to Angelica’s attacks?

7 She Wants To Be A Ruler

via bamorama.com

It’s not a hidden fact that Angelica always liked to make the Rugrats do whatever she asked of them. After all, there have been plenty of episodes where the toddlers are portrayed as slaves to “Queen Angelica.” Isn’t there even a Hanukkah related episode where Tommy is more or less an acting Moses asking Angelica to free the babies? This seems to be a recurring theme.

Sure, I understand Angelica having a strong, dominant personality because her mother is the same way. But a 3-year-old thinking about topics such as world domination or people bowing down to her? I don’t think that’s something a small child in this day and age could even fathom doing. Save the world domination for later, kiddos.

6 The Prank Master

via pinterest.com

And if my examples weren’t good enough, let me go ahead and tell you that Angelica is a trickster. In every episode, she’s very good at making Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil, believe pretty much anything she says. They might tell her she’s wrong at first, but eventually, Angelica always manages to do enough convincing that the babies go along with what she says, no matter how odd it may seem.

Most of the time, her pranks focused on tricking the babies into doing her bidding, such as getting cookies from the kitchen, ice cream from the fridge, what have you. Also, in general, she loved to spew lies just for the fun of it. Angelica loved messing around with the babies and got sheer enjoyment from it.
