Riot Games will be shifting new League of Legends champion Seraphine’s primary position from support to mid lane in the game’s next patch. The upcoming changes were outlined on Twitter yesterday by League of Legends lead gameplay designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter. The game’s next patch, 10.23, is expected to go live on November 11th.

Yetter took to Twitter to give League of Legends players a glimpse into the game’s next patch. The designer explained that Seraphine’s debut has shown her to be “skewed towards support more than intended.” In response, the development team will be “adding adjustments to [patch] 10.23 to shift her primary position to mid.” Yetter assures that this tweak won’t “remove the position, just bring it to a reasonable state.”

The update is meant to “[push] the distinction between mid and support Seraphine.” When used in the mid lane, Seraphine will be able to reach higher levels throughout the game and deal higher damage. The Passive and Q changes will grant mid lane Seraphine greater scaling damage, while in the support role, she’ll be able to use her ultimate ability to “provide consistent CC for her team.”

In patch 10.23, Seraphine’s base mana regeneration will be decreased from 10 to 8. Her passive ability, Stage Presence, will see a note ratio AP increase. Originally at 7.5% AP, the ratio will now stand at 6, 7, 8, or 9%, with the gain corresponding with levels 1, 6, 11, and 16.

Seraphine’s Q ability, High Note, will see a slight base damage increase, from 55/65/75/85/95 at a 55% AP ratio to 55/70/85/100/115 with a corresponding AP ratio increase. Her ultimate ability, Beat Drop, will see a base damage decrease while also dealing 100% damage to minions. From 60/85/110/135/160, the ability’s damage will decrease to 60/80/100/120/140.

The update should set Seraphine up for better lane control, especially against incoming minion waves. The changes are also not meant to disrupt players who use Seraphine in the support role, but rather bring the champion to a more "reasonable state."

Seraphine’s League of Legends debut was met with some backlash from players, with many labeling the Starry-Eyed Songstress as a “Sona 2.0.” These upcoming changes should shift the champion back into her intended role, as a solo mid laner. League of Legends patch 10.23 is expected to launch on November 11th.
