Risk of Rain 2 offers a unique experience every time a player starts a run. Due to its roguelike nature, most of the game's systems are randomly generated to keep players on their toes. Random items, enemy spawns, different bosses, and different maps per zone give a lot of variety in every run.

Some environments and enemies are so rare that few players ever see them. This is the case for Aurelionite, a unique Stone Titan boss that only spawns in the Gilded Coast. This boss offers one of the strongest boss items in the entire game for those that can brave the fight. For those that can get this rare foe to spawn, here are ten things players need to know about the Aurelionite in Risk of Rain 2.

10 Spawns From The Altar Of Gold

Risk of Rain 2 Altar of Gold shrine.

Before players can face the gilded Stone Titan for themselves, a Gold Altar must first be activated. These have an absurdly low spawn chance in every zone. Some players have gone dozens of runs without ever seeing one.

Should an Altar of Gold spawn, prepare to spend an absurd amount of Gold to activate it. While its cost will scale based on the difficulty and zone, most Gold Altars will cost an entire zone's worth of currency to activate. Only one Gold Altar may be active at a time. As with Newt Altars, completing the Teleporter event in a zone will spawn a unique gold portal that will take players to the Gilded Coast.

9 Gilded Coast Unique Zone

Risk of Rain 2 Gilded Coast unique zone.

Traveling through a gold portal will bring players to the Gilded Coast. This area is a mostly flat arena that houses a massive Stone Titan in the center named Aurelionite. Make a mental note of every piece of cover in the location, as Aurelionite is not shy with using ranged beam attacks on the player.

Similar to every other zone in Risk of Rain 2, enemies will spawn here that can be slain for Gold. Unlike other zones, the only purchasable items in the Gilded Coast are strange Beacons that dot the map and four guaranteed small chest spawns. The Aurelionite boss will spawn after four Beacons are activated on the map.

8 Invulnerability Periods

Risk of Rain 2 Gilded Coast Artificer gameplay.

Aurelionite will always be invincible when players first encounter him. No amount of damage can force the enemy to be vulnerable. In order to let the Aurelionite be damaged, players will have to accrue Gold from slain creatures to purchase the Beacons that surround the coast.

7 Beacon Mechanic

Purchasing a Beacon will do nothing on its own. Players need to purchase all seven Beacons on the Gilded Coast for the Aurelionite to become vulnerable. Do note that the vulnerability period only lasts for a short period.

After a minute or so, Aurelionite will begin to disable every Beacon on the map regardless of how many are active. The best strategy to fight Aurelionite is to farm as much currency as possible from mobs until the player can purchase all seven Beacons. Once active, deal as much damage to the boss as possible before the Beacons are reset and need to be purchased again.

6 Incredibly High EHP

Even after the invulnerability phase ends, Aurelionite still has a massive effective health pool. This boss has a large health pool that also has innate damage resistance, meaning players will get a ton of mileage out of armor-stripping items such as Shattering Justice. An armor-stripping item goes a long way towards making the Aurelionite fight much easier.

5 Unique Boss Item

Risk of Rain 2 Halcyon Seed unique item.

Defeating Aurelionite can grant one of two potential boss drops. He can either drop the Titanic Knurl boss item or the unique Halcyon Seed boss item. Titanic Knurls will give the player increased maximum health and passive health regeneration, while the Halcyon Seed will spawn a copy of Aurelionite during every Teleporter event.

The summoned version of Aurelionite retains the same attacks and stats that the main boss does. He is adept at throwing targets in the air and one-shotting most enemies with a single close-range laser blast.

4 Deals More Damage Up Close

Unlike the Stone Titan, Aurelionite's laser attack deals increased damage the closer the target is. If players charge the Titan head-on, prepare to be hit with a laser that can instantly-kill most characters. This is especially rough for characters like Mercenary, so make sure to either take full advantage of invulnerability frames or generate distance to make Aurelionite's attacks as weak as possible.

3 Throws Players In The Air

If Aurelionite's laser wasn't enough, this Stone Titan's ground attack is also enhanced. Instead of erupting a single projectile from the ground, Aurelionite will erupt multiple spikes on the target location. If the player is caught in the epicenter, they will be flung a few dozen meters into the air. Should Aurelionite follow this attack up with a laser, consider that run over. Use any mobility items or abilities to dodge the ground attacks or minimize the time spend in the air.

2 Unlocks Eccentric Vase

Risk of Rain 2 Eccentric Vase unique item.

For players that encounter a Gold Altar and have a fantastic run going, consider entering the Gilded Coast to complete the "Blackout" challenge. The "Blackout" challenge requires the player to defeat Aurelionite without letting him deactivate any Beacons. As mentioned earlier, activating all seven Beacons at once is almost mandatory to give the player enough time to kill the boss. When he becomes vulnerable, deal as much damage as possible to the boss. Bring any Equipment that does excellent single-target damage or can clump enemies together to maximize the use of crowd-based items.

Completion of the "Blackout" challenge will unlock the Eccentric Vase Equipment item. This item will create a quantum tunnel up to 1,000 meters in length that lasts for 30 seconds. Walk through it to teleport to the opposite end of the tunnel.

1 Aurelionite Log Farm

Risk of Rain 2 Stone Titan fight.

Arguably the rarest log in Risk of Rain 2 is Aurelionite's Log. This item has a small chance to drop whenever the boss dies, and since the chance of a Gold Altar spawning is so low, the probability of obtaining one of these Logs is incredibly low.

Thankfully, there is a way to farm for Aurelionite's Log. Run the Artifact of Command and wait for a boss item to spawn. When the choice appears, select the Halcyon Seed. This will spawn a friendly Aurelionite every Teleporter event. Should the boss die, he has a chance to drop a Log as the actual boss fight does. Keep spawning and letting Aurelionite die in this fashion to increase the chance of finding a Log.
