After less than a year on the market, fans of the wonderful River City Girls can do a little happy dance because a new game is on the way.

Do you like classic Street Fighter animation, girls with revenge fantasies, and lots and lots of punching? Then River City Girls is the game for you! After Kyoko and Misako’s boyfriends are kidnapped, the girls have to bust out of detention and start busting up anyone who gets in their way of their rescue mission.

It’s got a pretty classic beat-'em-up style game, you brawl your way through the legions of enemies, collect the money they drop to spend on upgrading items and moves. You take down bosses, recruit baddies to your side of the fight to summon later on when the going gets tougher and tougher. As a spin off of the River City Ransom franchise, this game was released for PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

Players can take on the city as either of the ass-kicking duo, Kyoko or Misako, to get the job done. Their move sets are essentially the same except for a few special combos. Choosing a character essentially comes down to an affinity for either baseball bats or brass knuckles. News of a sequel is a total treat for those who loved this beat ‘em up game. The sequel news was first mentioned by Limited Run Games on their Twitter page @LimitedRunGames during the LRG3 stream from earlier today.

There is next to no information on this new game, other than the fact that there will be one at some point in time and will be in the River City Girls family. Knowing there's more River City Girls on the way with no details leaves a lot to the imagination, but we’re almost guaranteed to have more of the adorable side-scroller meets anime animation.

But did Riki and Kunio get their himbo selves kidnapped again? Are Kyoko and Misako out on a single girl rampage, or are they taking this tag team in a whole new direction? Keeping updated on more River City Girls on the way is a finally something to look forward to for the remainder of this year!
