Fishing in a mining simulator? Yes, it's a thing now. Rumble Studios released the summer update in Roblox Mining Simulator 2 with a brand-new island. This summer island has a new mine, mini-games, and the best part, fishing! If you're tired of mining blocks, but you still want to spend time in the game, fishing is the perfect escape.

In one of the biggest updates released in Mining Simulator 2, the developers added a bunch of fishes and four different areas to fish in. You can get a variety of fish from every area ranging from common to extremely rare quality (around a 0.5 percent kind of rare).

How To Unlock Fishing

One thing to note here is that you can't have access to fishing if you're just starting out in Mining Simulator 2. Since it's one of the new islands, you'll need to have access to space travel for teleporting to it. This can be unlocked after you mine a million blocks, as then the area right behind the spawn area on the surface gets unlocked.

Luckily, the developers made it so you don't have to upgrade the Spaceship to get to the island. As soon as you unlock this area, you can head over to space travel and teleport to Summer Fair island. Once you're here, you can fish to your heart's content.

How To Unlock All Fishes

The Summer Fair island is only available for a limited period of time in Mining Simulator 2. So, if you want to get the 'special reward' after getting all the new fish, it's time to get your fishing rods out and drop everything to go fishing.

There are four different areas where you can fish on the new island namely: Ocean, River, Pond, and Mountain. Every area has its own set of common and rare fish exclusive to the area. Unfortunately, there is no mini-game while fishing, so all you have to do is cast your rod in the water, and you'll get a fish after a while.

Ocean Fish

When you load into the island, you will see a bridge at the shore near the new mining area. This is where you can fish to get the ocean fish. Rock Fish is the most common Ocean Fish and gives you the least amount of tickets.

Other than that, you also have a good chance to get Dartling Fish, Butterfly Fish, and Basslet Fish. Angel Fish and Octopus are the rarest fish in this area and if you don't get lucky, it can take you a long time to acquire them. Luckily, all the tickets you get from farming these fishes don't go to waste.

River Fish

Carp is one of the most common fish found in almost every game that has fishing in it. And it's the same with this game since Carp is the most common fish in the River. To find the river, follow the Ocean area up to a little alley with a bridge on it. The area around this bridge is where you can get the River Fish.

Apart from that, Pike, Sturgeon, and Bluegill can be acquired easily after fishing for a while in this area. Molten Fish and Stingray will give you a hard time as you only have a 2.3 percent and 0.7 percent to get them respectively.

Pond Fish

Keep going in-land from the bridge, and you will see the third area to fish in, which is the pond. This area has a bunch of swords stabbed inside the water. The funny thing about this is that you can just stand in the pond and fish normally as well. Smallmouth Bass and Silver Salmon are pretty easy ones to acquire here.

While you will eventually get Palefish as well, the Red Fish can already give you a hard time as there's only a six percent chance of getting it. Further, Mackinaw and Axolotl have a 1.5 percent and 0.5 percent chance of spawning which makes the pond the hardest area to get all the fish in.

Mountain Fish

To find the location for these, go to the right side of all the shops on the island, and you will see some stairs leading up to a tunnel. Even though you can't enter this tunnel, the water just outside it is where you can fish to acquire Mountain Fish.

Walleye is the easiest fish to acquire here - in fact, it might be too easy, as there is a 70 percent chance of getting this fish. This reduces the chances of all other fishes drastically, making almost all of them rare. Largemouth Bass can usually be acquired in the first few tries as well.

Black Crawpie, Rainbow Trout, Whisker Fish, and Electric Eel are all really hard to get and can take quite a long time if you don't get lucky. Once you unlock all of these, you will acquire all the new fish and unlock the special reward offered by the game.

All the tickets you acquire from fishing can be exchanged in the shop for a lot of goodies. If you've already purchased the Bucket O' Shells, it is recommended to save your tickets as there will be new items in the shop in the second part of the summer update.
