Rocket League's next update is slated to arrive on February 1, bringing with it several quality-of-life improvements and the long-requested addition of Fennec Decals to the Esports Shop.

Starting February 1, you'll be able to find Fennec Decals for all teams in the Esports Shop. Decals will cost 300 Esports Tokens each, although you won't have to rush to pick them up – the Esports Shop no longer rotates its selection, so you can sift through its items and buy them at your convenience.

Psyonix will also be making a few adjustments to the lighting effects in Neon Fields. Many players thought the intense special effects were negatively impacting their gameplay experience, and the team is responding with a new settings option – Effect Intensity. Keeping it at the Default setting won't change anything, but moving it to Low will do the following:

  • Disable all pulsing effects
  • Disable all flashing lights
  • Reduce or disables moving FX/lights/background visuals
  • Reduce brightness or intensity of background lights

Compared to some of Rocket League's previous updates, this one is a bit light on content. The biggest news for Rocket League came about a week ago, when Psyonix revealed it was collaborating with ESPN to bring X Games gear to its shop. There's also a Rocket League tournament that'll be wrapping up within the next few days – with the winner getting an official X Games medal.

Rocket League never really stepped out of the limelight, but its move last year to rebrand as a free-to-play title seems to be paying dividends. Released way back in 2015, the aging title still has legions of players and shows no signs of slowing down. Regular content updates – and the re-introduction of Rocket Labs – have garnered a lot of renewed interest in the iconic game, and it's poised for another great year in 2021.

Rocket League's next update will go live for all platforms on February 1.
