Rockstar will re-enter the esports universe as the official energy drink sponsor to the Germany-based mousesports. Along with the usual marketing of providing jerseys and apparel fixed with their company logo, Rockstar is looking into further reaching projects in the region to include fan events and other original content. The move looks to benefit both parties as Rockstar hopes this venture into esports expands its brand and mousesports hopes that another significant sponsorship leads them to greener pastures.

PepsiCo’s Carl Windfuhr said via press release: “We are absolutely thrilled to start the new year with such great news as of our partnership. Obviously, with mousesports we have won a strong and well-known partner in this game. We are excited to break into the esports scene and to take mousesports to the next level. Let‘s get ‘Louder. Harder. Drüber‘ together!”

Stefan Wendt, CEO of mousesports said of the deal: “It makes us super proud that in ROCKSTAR Energy, the next big brand decided to enter the esports space together with mousesports at its side. Together we will create many special moments and experiences for our fans in 2020.”

Mousesports is proactive with their sponsors, and adding Rockstar to an expansive list that include Razer and Vodafone goes a long way to bolster their standings as one of the top esports teams in Europe. Their recently reformed League of Legends team consisting of several European Champions faces high expectations as they head into the Prime League, but they do so with renewed vigor and a sponsor invested in their success.

At this point, the move looks to be a major one that can help push an already solid team even further. Red Bull and Monster have been incredible assets in growing esports, so it is about time that Rockstar got back into the game after a previous sponsorship within the UK yielded subpar results. Mousesports is looking to get off on the right foot in 2020, and adding Rockstar along with their revamped League team puts them in a prime position to be a major force in the season to come.
