When first looking at the gameplay it can overwhelm you, especially when entering a fight as everyone is using abilities and dodging with ease across the map. Fortunately, these tips will help to simplify a few techniques that are often used by upper-level players when they enter into combat!

Neglecting To Switch Your Shoulder Camera

One cool thing about this third-person shooter game is that you have the ability to switch which shoulder you are looking over when shooting, but new players often forget about this in combat. You should bind it to a key or button on your controller that is readily available so you don't have to search for it. This will allow you to peek around corners without revealing your body and it can be a great asset in any fight.

Never Crouching Or Dodging

Crouch in Rogue Company

The two ways to put yourself out of harm's way is to crouch or dodge by rolling out of the way. Players often forget they have these abilities and stand in the middle of the open instead of utilizing the cover around them. You will see seasoned players jumping all across your screen as they crouch and dodge like crazy to evade you, which is something you need to learn how to do if you want to be great at Rogue Company.

Understand Your Passive Ability

The Fixer in Rogue Company

Every Rogue has a passive ability and it is something that new players often forget to use to their advantage. This does not have to be activated and is a perk that is automatically given when you fulfill the requirements.

The passive abilities of each of the Rogues are as follows:

  • Dima: Enemies hit by explosives are revealed for a short time
  • Ronin: She doesn't show up on the minimap
  • Phantom: If you damage an enemy their health regeneration is delayed
  • Dallas: When you down an enemy his ability is recharged
  • Chaac: If downed, he has increased health and retains the ability to roll
  • Dahlia: Whoever you link with you automatically have their passive for the round, except for Vy
  • Anvil: He is immune from disorienting and blinding effects
  • Glitch: Enemy equipment is detectable, even through walls
  • Lancer: If you perform a dodge then your weapon is automatically reloaded
  • Saint: If you revive a teammate, your health will also increase tremendously
  • Scorch: Fire doesn't harm her
  • Sigrid: She is immune to slowing effects and moves faster when crouched
  • Talon: Items can be picked up from a distance
  • The Fixer: If you damage an enemy it will slow them
  • Trench: He carries an additional gadget
  • Vy: If you reduce the maximum amount of health of an opponent, then it will increase your max health up to 25

Forgetting To Use Your Ability

One complaint many seasoned players have is that beginners often forget to use their Rogue's ability, and it is sure to lead to some epic memes. It can really hurt a team as those are meant to assist you, and not using them is only hurting your team. You might forget about it, but one way to remedy this is to try and stick to a singular character for awhile so you can better understand the dynamics of the game.

Understand Your Weapon

The different Rogues carry various weapons such as assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, pistols, and more. It is important to understand what weapons your Rogue has on their person as it will determine your playstyle.

For example, someone who is playing Phantom and using her sniper rifle will hang back more, while a teammate using Chaac's submachine gun will choose to push the opponents.

Not Utilizing Dropped Weapons

When you finish an opponent they will drop their weapons and gadgets, and you should take full advantage of them. You should actually adjust your settings so you automatically pick up any ground loot of paid Rogues to fill empty spots in your inventory with various gadgets and bombs.

However, sometimes it can be useful to utilize an opponent's gun that they dropped as it could offer you an extra edge. One example of this is if you are using a character with an excellent assault rifle, but their secondary is only a pistol. You could trade this out for a submachine gun that would blow away your competition in close-range fights.

Never Reviving Downed Teammates

Revive in Rogue Company

Some players just don't understand the concept of reviving downed teammates, and it can take some getting used to as you don't have as long to help them up as you do in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However, this can really hurt your team, especially when you have limited lives, as it can quickly eat them away.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are wrong times to revive, like when being charged by several opponents. It can do more harm than good to revive in this situation as it will result in a loss of two lives rather than just one.

Failing To Communicate

It is understandable that not everyone has a mic that they can use, but it is why the developers included a ping system. This allows you to mark enemies and locations to help your team understand where the opponents are hiding and it is part of what makes it better than Fortnite. A big mistake is when you fail to use it to mark those around you as it could lead to the unnecessary death of your teammate.

Not Changing Your Strategy When Revealed

Revealed in Rogue Company

It is fairly common for a revealed banner to come across your screen at some point in the game, and players often ignore it which is a huge mistake. When you are revealed you want to change your current strategy so the reveal doesn't give your opponent any hints about where you are headed. The most important thing in this situation is to sit back and not rush an opponent as they will see you coming from a mile away.

Choosing Not To Buy Grenades

It is enticing to upgrade your gun and buy a bunch of perks, but this doesn't always win games. Grenades are an integral part of the gameplay and can come in handy, especially since the maps have so many tight spaces. A perfect lob could knock an opponent or take off enough of their health to allow you to down them with your partially-upgraded weapon.
