Next month, Neon Abyss - from indie developer Veewo Games - will be bringing its frantic, run'n'gun roguelite action to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

To celebrate the announcement of the game’s July 14th release date, a brand-new trailer was released, showcasing the game’s chaotic gameplay and massive boss battles.

Neon Abyss will feature a variety of monsters and a multitude of upgradable weapons as players make their way through each level, while - probably - dying a lot.

The new trailer shows off everything that players can expect from the roguelite with its pixelated art design and retro-electronic soundtrack. There is a lot going on in each of the levels shown, including charmingly evil-look enemies along with the over-the-top weapons that players will utilize - which include blasters, fireballs, plasma lasers, and rockets, just to name a few (personally, I am a big fan of the weapon that shoots fish bones in multiple directions).

Weapons upgrades appear to unlock via a skill tree which will be opened up as players progress through the game.

In addition, mini-games will also be part of the fun, which seems like a great way to take a break in between the run’n’gun sessions. One mini-game looks like a platforming version of playing the piano, while a claw machine mini-game appears to be another way for players to snag in-game perks.

Players can also, apparently, sit on a dock and fish or spend some quiet time simply meditating. These too, however, appear to award extra perks for when players get back into the action.

The boss battles look to be pretty intense, with constant movement looking like the key to success, as at any given point, the level could erupt in an explosion of chaos and projectiles that need to be avoided.

Finally, pets can be collected along the way, each providing specific special abilities for players to use.

There’s a lot going on in Neon Abyss, but platforming, shoot ‘em up, and rogulite fans likely wouldn't have it any other way. A demo is available to play right now on Steam for those wanting to check it out before next month’s full launch.
