Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was recently combined with Streets of Rage 2, creating what the enterprising developer, Savok, has now released as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Re-Revenge. This brand new ROM hack is currently available on the popular modding platform known as ROMhacking.

While the game was primarily produced by Savok, the release comes with a couple of credits, most notably PPI_Akiko for “code porting, coding, hacking, numerous fixes,” and some work on the “story screen.” Eskayelle provided a “new story” as well.

According to the official description, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Re-Revenge features a wide variety of brand new gameplay elements including reworked characters, enemies, and bosses in addition to “new attacks that will surprise experienced players.” The mod also has “new sounds for players and enemies” along with a “new plot that has been written for the game” and an exciting new “Turbo Mode.”

The reception on the part of players for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Re-Revenge has been extremely positive. While plenty of people have taken to social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and especially Resetera in praise of the mod, several users on ROMhacking have been leaving reviews. Peacefighter for example called the game a “beautiful hack with interesting game changes.”

“The sprites from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge work very well in the Streets of Rage 2 engine. I like that the stages are basically the same, but they still made some creative changes,” Peacefighter describes. “These kinds of little changes help to make this hack feel like something ‘new’ rather than just a reskin like most other Streets of Rage 2 hacks.” The player points out that all of these are “great ideas!”
