With so many RPGs available on the Nintendo eShop, it’s likely that many players have come across a title and said, “Hmph… I could make a better RPG than that.” If that sounds like you, then it’s almost time to put your money where your mouth is, as RPG Maker MV will be making its way to Nintendo’s portable console later this year.

RPG Maker MV will be coming to Nintendo Switch on September 8th in North America, September 11th in Europe, and September 18th in Oceania. The game will also be released on PlayStation 4.

Along with the news, a release date trailer was posted, showing off everything that players will be able to do in the console versions of the game.

In RPG Maker MV, players will be able to be the creator of their own epic story, with tools and resources allowing them to create an RPG of their own design. Monsters, characters, storylines, and scenery will all be available to players - thanks to the game’s “extensive library of art and audio assets” - without them having to have any sort of coding skills whatsoever. On top of all that, players will have the ability to upload their own creations for others to play using the free RPG Maker MV Player, while checking out other players’ games for themselves.

It is interesting that RPG Maker MV will be making its way to consoles a few months after RPG Maker MZ makes its way to PC. One would think that RPG Maker MZ would make more sense as the newer title (which was only just announced with a trailer of its own a few weeks ago).

At any rate, RPG fans and creatives will certainly have their hands full this fall once RPG Maker MV launches on consoles. Instead of reading before bed, players will be able to build an entire RPG world before putting their Switch on the nightstand and heading off to dreamland.
