Riot Games is preparing to release its first single-player title, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, in early 2021. The company announced the game's release window earlier today at the League of Legends World Championship. The turned-based RPG will give players a bigger look into League of Legends lore, releasing for both PC and consoles.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will be the first League of Legends spin-off title from Riot Forge, Riot Games’ publishing arm. The game will also be Riot’s first single-player entry, as their other titles are all online multiplayer. Ruined King seeks to place players in the League of Legends world, touring them around two Runeterran regions, Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles.

While no gameplay was shown in the Ruined King reveal trailer, we did get a look at some of the game’s presumably playable champions. Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Pyke, Ahri, and Yasuo are all set to make an appearance in Ruined King.

Ruined King will be developed by Airship Syndicate, who also take credit for Battle Chasers: Nightwar and Darksiders Genesis. Comic book artist and Airship Syndicate founder Joe Madureira leads the project. Publisher Riot Forge was founded last year, created to partner with developers to dive deeper into the League of Legends universe. This will be Riot Forge’s first game, and it will be the first single-player title created by Riot Games.

While Ruined King is set to release in early 2021, Riot Forge looks to publish at least one more single-player title in the future. Similar to Ruined King will be Convergence: A League of Legends Story, developed by Double Stallion, which will follow League champion Ekko through the Runeterran regions of Piltover and Zaun. Convergence does not yet have a set release date. Tabletop game Tellstones: King’s Gambit launched earlier this year, also set in the world of Runeterra.

Ruined King: A League of Legends story is set to release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch, as well as on Steam and Epic Games in early 2021. Riot Games is expected to release more information on the title in December.
