Although Ubisoft has not officially announced Far Cry 6 yet, a recent leak has revealed the game's story, setting, and characters. Interestingly enough though, eagle-eyed viewers who saw the leak managed to notice something odd about the key art, which might suggest a possible connection to Far Cry 3.

The detail in question relates to the boy that can be seen in the key art. According to the leaked information, the boy, whose name is Diego and who's the son of the potential villain named Anton Castileroux (played by Giancarlo Esposito, who is known for his role as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad), is the young version of Vaas, the villain from Far Cry 3. The reason fans believe that Diego is Vaas is because both share a nearly identical facial feature - a scar on their eyebrow, which is in the same exact spot and the same side of the face for both characters. Although the Vaas in Far Cry 3 did not have the scar, he certainly did when he was played by actor Michael Mando in the live-action stints for the game.

Another possible clue that might suggest Far Cry 6 is a prequel to Far Cry 3 is Mando himself. Earlier in the year, Mando held an AMA session on Reddit where he answered questions that fans had for him. When one fan asked the actor if he was still recognized as Vaas, he replied by saying that he was indeed, but more importantly, he added that, "Who knows... maybe I will reprise the role very soon?" Seeing Mando referencing the Vaas role in his reply is a strong indicator that the character might make some kind of an appearance in Far Cry 6.

Until Ubisoft confirms Far Cry 6's setting in the series timeline, all of the mentioned rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. For instance, the scar detail could turn out to be pure coincidence, while Mando's AMA reply could hint at a completely different game that is going to be released in the future as some kind of spin off. Either way, with the Ubisoft Forward event scheduled for July 12, the company will most likely announce the game and the necessary details.
