Yep, because Fortnite just isn’t a big enough deal yet. If this latest from the gaming grapevine is to be believed, the game is continuing its quest for world domination on Nintendo Switch, with exclusive bonus content to boot.

Now, we all know the video game industry. We live in the era of the rerelease, the remaster, the port and the game of the year edition. If something is successful, it’ll be hawked to the hilt. It’ll be hawked like a has-been celebrity showcasing their new fashion line on the shopping channel. Take one of the true all-time icons like Doom. Is there any system in the cosmos that game hasn’t been released on? From PS1 to GBA and some more advanced models of microwave oven, you can play this bad boy on everything.

Now, sure, Fortnite may not represent the kind of paradigm shift that Doom did. In the battle royale arena, however, it’s certainly proven to be an accessible and super successful new property. Not a bad effort at all from what began as a simple free-to-play bonus mode. Fortnite Battle Royale has since conquered PC, Xbox One, PS4 and iOS, even in its early access state, and is on its way to Android too (eventually).

Speaking of which, why are Android fans being kept waiting? It seems that the delay is partly due to the need for compatibility with a whole range of Android devices, and partly because the game seems to be on its way to Nintendo Switch.

Rumor- Is Fortnite Coming To Nintendo Switch With Exclusive Content
Via: IGN

If you’re a Switch player who enjoys Splatoon 2, you’ll have noticed one thing about the squid-centric shooter’s lobby: it’s full of players discussing Fortnite. The desire to have it ported to Switch, mostly. Well, they may well be getting their wish.

As Gaming Circle reports, a Twitter account named LeakyPandy (which previously leaked information regarding March’s Nintendo Direct presentation) has discovered information concerning a Fortnite Nintendo Switch port. Apparently, the alleged port will feature both Save the World and Battle Royale, with the latter remaining largely unchanged from other system versions and the former boasting local co-op between Switch consoles. And ‘exclusive content relating to Nintendo IPs’ to boot.

Now, the leaker themselves acknowledge that this is simply ‘gossip’ for now (and they’re hardly infallible anyway), and nothing has been officially confirmed. Still, there’s nothing remotely fanciful here, and the supposed docked play/handheld play marketing focus definitely fits in with Nintendo’s own outlook for the system.

One thing’s for sure, Fortnite fans. You’re going to want to check out Nintendo’s E3 coverage. You know, just in case.
