Another week, another rumor surrounding a highly anticipated video game. This time, there are rumors circulating around the internet that suggest that Grand Theft Auto VI may release this year. Although the information is highly questionable since an official confirmation is yet to be made by Rockstar, we can't help but be a little excited.

The information about the potential release comes from an Austrian retailer by the name of Gameware. According to Gameware, the next main installment in the Grand Theft Auto series is “coming in 2020.” Only the year was shared — no specific release date was mentioned. Additionally, the retailer has posted a listing for the game on its web page which shows off a logo of the game as well as a "D1 Edition." Though it's not clear what the edition is, it can be suggested that the D1 may stand for Day 1, or some kind of an early release bonus.

One thing to note is that in the past, Gameware has accurately predicted and leaked launch windows for some games. For instance, in 2019, the retailer correctly leaked that the next Need for Speed game would be called Need for Speed: Heat. In other words, it would be wise to pay attention to Gameware's leak while remaining cautiously optimistic.

Of course, it's very unlikely Rockstar would announce the next Grand Theft Auto game for 2020. With Red Dead Redemption 2 still somewhat fresh, and the highly popular Grand Theft Auto Online still receiving support and updates, a next main-game installment may have to wait a little bit longer. Adding to all that, even if the next Grand Theft Auto game comes out in 2020, Rockstar would have certainly announced its existence by now.

Ultimately, all provided information regarding the 2020 release should be taken with a grain of salt. Until Rockstar officially announces that the next Grand Theft Auto game is in the making, all rumors and speculation should be  paid little attention.
