An image has popped up on Reddit, purporting to be a PlayStation 4 Pro bundle starring Spider-Man for the upcoming PS4 game. There has been no word from Insomniac or Sony on this, and this picture is not sourced to a credible entity. So, as the saying goes, take this with a grain of salt.

As many Reddit users point out in the comments, a factor lending to this image being fake is the PS4 Pro logo itself. In the picture, a colon is used right before the "Pro." A quick Google search will yield the fact that Sony doesn't use a colon when describing the Pro, it is simply "PS4 Pro." With so many convincing doctored images on the web, the odds in this picture being legitimate are on the slimmer side. Still, if there was to be a Pro bundle, this is a reasonable guess of what it could look like. The spider logo is pronounced on the console, with the controller being red and blue - it wouldn't be a stretch to say this could be an accurate representation of a hypothetical Pro bundle.

Spider-Man for PS4 is still four months away. The game seems to be in good hands. Insomniac developed the original Spyro trilogy, the main Ratchet and Clank games, as well as the Resistance trilogy. It has been a long time since a console Spider-Man game has been met with favorable reviews. The highest rated one in the current decade is Shattered Dimensions for the Xbox 360, with a 76 on Metacritic. The most recent main game, the movie tie-in to 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has a 58 in comparison.

The highest rated Spider-Man game on Metacritic is the classic PlayStation One installment, simply titled Spider-Man. Could Insomniac's game surpass it? The cards seem to be in the company's favor. Graphically, the game looks good, and the gameplay appears to be incredibly fine-tuned. We know Mary Jane will be playable, adding another dimension to the gameplay. The creative director of the game, Bryan Intihar told IGN about the thought process that went into putting Mary Jane into the game:

Bryan Intihar: "...we thought it'd be interesting to show what it's like to be a character who doesn't have superpowers, what it's like to be that person in a superhero world, and actually control that character."

This appears to be similar to Batman: Arkham Knight, where you are able to control Commissioner Gordon briefly. In fact, Spider-Man for PS4 was inspired by Rocksteady's Arkham series, according to an interview with The Telegraph. That is certainly a good series to look at, as the Arkham games have become the pinnacle of games based on a comic book character. (Arkham City has a 96, making it the 30th highest rated game of all time on Metacritic.
