While Red Dead Online is still alive and kicking, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is allegedly in development, one leak suggests that a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption may be in the works and gearing up for a release on next-gen consoles.

The leak comes from a thread on 4chan, so it's important to note that the leak doesn't come from a traditionally reputable source. However, a leaker by the name of Chris Liberty has leaked that a remake for the first Red Dead Redemption will be announced this year.

Further, the game, developed using the Red Dead Redemption II engine, will allegedly release on the Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC. The remake will see returning voice actors such as Rob Wiethoff, who portrays the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption, John Marston. According to the rumor, he will record additional lines for the character.

The leaker mentions that the game may also sport other new content and might be announced soon.

As with all rumors, it's important to take this with a grain of salt. In this case, it'd be especially smart to do so given that the rumor originates from 4chan and previously believed rumors regarding the same topic that turned out to be untrue.

Given how beloved the game is, there's no doubt that a remake would be welcomed by fans. This is especially true, seeing as Rockstar's next GTA installment is still years out.
