That’s right, friends. If the gaming grapevine is to be believed, you could soon have the most gravely-voiced of all the Witchers right there on your Nintendo Switch. Is The Witcher 3 being ported to the hybrid handheld? It looks like it might be.

So, Switch players, how are you getting on with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? The game’s shonky online functionality might be getting you down (has For Glory been patched in yet? Oh, no, no it hasn’t), but collecting Spirits and learning to play with the huge roster of fighters is one heckola of a lot of fun.

Speaking of the expansive roster, who’s your favourite? Are you sticking with a tried-and-true main from the past, or has a new fighter captured your heart? The supposedly OP (depending on who you ask) King K. Rool and Inkling, perhaps? We’ve already told you our favourites.

Some major third-party characters have joined the Smash ranks lately, and while Geralt of The Witcher fame was a super darn long shot before, a possible leak suggests that his chances may be dramatically improving. The Witcher 3 just may be coming to Switch.

As reported on ResetEra, a mysterious product page popped up on a French wholesaler’s website over the holidays. The page showed a supposed The Witcher 3 Switch port, and was rather swiftly erased from existence. Naturally, it wasn’t removed in time. The gaming world caught wind of it, and the cogs of the rumor-o-matic machine started to turn.

What are the chances of this actually happening? Well, probably not great. While the Switch has been enjoying better treatment from third parties than Nintendo are used to, ports don’t tend to be able to run on the hardware without compromises. The Witcher 3 would be darn demanding, there’s no doubt about that.

Will we be getting Geralt as a way-out-of-left-field addition to Smash Ultimate’s Fighter’s Pass, then? Well, you can never say never. The gaming industry can be an unpredictable mistress, as we know. All we can do is sit tight and see if anything does come of this. Plus, if The Witcher 3 comes out for Switch, then Geralt will meet all the criteria to be a DLC character.
