We're only a few days into 2022, and Jagex is already making big changes to the world of RuneScape. As of January 4, the Oasis Restoration event is active – which sees the Duel Arena rebranded as Het's Oasis and turned into a skilling location for Agility, Hunter, and Farming skills.

The community event tasks players with restoring the location after a "cataclysmic earthquake" tore through the land and destroyed the Duel Arena. At the end of two weeks, RuneScape will officially rebrand the area as Het's Oasis, which will offer a new landscape, new skilling methods, and a few new miniquests.

If you join in on the restoration efforts, you'll be able to earn a bunch of individual and community rewards.

"It all kicks off with our two-week restoration event where you’ll be clearing up the shattered Duel Arena to create a glistening desert paradise," said Jagex. "The centerpiece of the event is the Community Chest, where players can unlock both individual and community rewards by completing tasks or participating in permanent skilling activity around the Oasis."

These rewards include a pet crocodile, a new title, desert-themed cosmetics, and even a pair of crocodile-themed footwear.

The Duel Arena joined RuneScape in 2004 and has been a staple of the game ever since. It gave the community the opportunity to fight in single's combat and wager on the outcome – giving the game a unique form of PvP not often seen in the genre. Here's hoping Het's Oasis can make a similar impact on the community over the next few decades.
