The evolution of Power Rangers on the small screen has been expanding since the birth of its '90s show. The original Japanese series Super Sentai is still growing in tandem with each new generation, and nWay’s Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is following suit with gues fighters Ryu and Chun-Li.

The fighting game has already welcomed Lauren Shiba from the Super Samurai series, as a crossover with the spandex warriors. The sword-savvy character donned a red suit similar to Jason’s and flaunted her ranged attacks as well as her deathly close combat. Shiba joined Robert “RJ” James, the Jungle Fury Wolf Ranger, who was added to the game in July 2020, and now another crossover is about to hit the Grid.

Street Fighter characters Ryu and Chun-Li will be added to the Battle of the Grid roster as the Crimson Hawk Ranger and the Blue Phoenix Ranger. The Street Fighter DLC pack will arrive on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia on May 25 for the price of $12.50. Both of the aforementioned fighters will be included in the pack - with the addition of “exclusive skins” which will be detailed at a later date - and both characters will also be able to be purchased individually for $5.99 each. Both crossover Rangers originally had their designs added to the mobile game Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, and the inclusion of this crossover was prompted by fans' request.

Speaking to IGN, nWay community and marketing representative Rose Silvestre emphasized how the arrival of Ryu and Chun-Li honors Street Fighter 2, in some respect, as the 2D fighting genre has been spawned from this Capcom title. Silvestre also mentioned how crossovers from the 90s - X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom - were the inspiration behind this collaboration with Street Fighter, despite the foundation of Battle for the Grid serving as a by-product of the Power Rangers' shows, comics, and films.

Until these iconic characters arrive in the Grid, Power Rangers fans will be able to indulge in a new tabletop card game from Renegade Game Studios. The Power Rangers Deck-Building Game pits 1 or 2 heroes against equal villains, who can be defeated by using Attack and Block cards with Shards allowing rewards to be gained. The pack can be purchased for $45 and it is a diverse game to add to the Power Rangers franchise in order to include fans of all game genres.
