The last time we got a Saints Row trailer was back in October and, since then, it has been delayed. But Volition is continuing to drum up hype by releasing a new trailer during The Game Awards. And it's not just any trailer - we're gonna see the Saints in action, likely firing guns, driving fancy cars, wearing silly costumes, and hopefully, if we're lucky, peddling some energy drinks.

A couple of months ago, we saw a few returning fan-favourite modes - like Insurance Fraud - and the new criminal empire system. It's a little more complex than the older model. There's a map to strategically plan your expansion rather than aimlessly completing objectives as the percentage ticks up. You build everything from scratch, buying businesses, going on heists, and more. It's a far cry from the days where we hung out with Julius in a church, sulking while the Vice Kings took territory.

With the upcoming footage being dedicated to gameplay, we should get a better idea as to what Saints Row will look like in action. The last few trailers were primarily cinematics, but the brief teaser we got on The Game Awards' Twitter shows some of the more ridiculous costumes and cars - same old Saints Row, a new coat of paint. You can see it below.

There's a giant taco, a fireman's outfit, some cardboard armour, and even a mariachi band's suit. Blink and you might miss 'em, but they're just as outlandish as you'd expect from a Saints Row game. This isn't a gritty reboot in the slightest, and we're likely just scratching the surface of what's on offer.

Volition also launched a dedicated Saints Row Discord for fans which should be perfect if you want to celebrate the new trailer with like-minded onlookers - let's just hope it doesn't go the way of Sonic, eh?

Saints Row launches on August 23, 2022. However, if you're itching for some Saints Row right now, The Third Remastered is available on Steam for £34.99.
