Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin arrived on the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam two weeks ago, and since then it's been moving like crazy. In Japan, the game is competing against AAA titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and worldwide, the game has sold 500,000 units so far.

The news comes from publisher Xseed Games who report that the half a million figure includes both digital and retail physical copies of Sakuna. In fact, the game has sold so well in-stores that physical copies are "largely sold out."

“We’ve known that Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin was a special game and would have broad appeal since our first meeting with Edelweiss,” said Kenji Hosoi, executive vice president at Xseed. “The game has been in development for many years, and we’re beyond excited at the reception it has received globally from critics and consumers alike. Thank you to everyone who has accompanied Sakuna and her companions on their journey!”

Xseed also wanted to remind us that Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin is available in both Retail and Divine Editions, with the Divine Edition including custom box art, a 130-page art book, the official soundtrack on three CDs, and a 2"x3" omamori charm. A Digital Deluxe Edition for PS4 includes four themes and nine avatars, while the Steam version includes a digital version of the artbook.

Besides selling well, Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin is also reviewing exceptionally well. Our very own Sam Watanuki said it's "one of the most genuine and endearing in-game experiences I’ve had in a long time," and "an absolute delight and comes highly recommended, regardless of whether or not you're a fan of the platforming, RPG, or farming and crafting genres."

It sounds like there’s no reason NOT to play Sakuna if you own either a Switch, PS4, or PC. So unless you’re a die-hard Xbox fan, go grab Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin.
