Fans of Souls-like titles will be pleased with the announcement of Salt and Sacrifice, a semi-sequel to Ska Studios' 2016 action game Salt and Sanctuary. This latest title will not only include more of the pulse-pounding action you've come to expect from a Dark Souls-inspired title, but it will also have support for local and online co-op. Now, you won't need to die 9,000 times by yourself.

Salt and Sacrifice will take players to a new region and a different era from the first game. Taking on the role of the Marked Inquisitor, your backstory is that of a criminal on the run from the law that ends up being forced into a lifetime of servitude to deal with the threat of evil mages. These mages are said to be creatures of irredeemable elemental malice...so they're really bad.

Despite the Inquisitor role, players will have the choice between one of eight different classes: Highblade, Paladin, Assassin, Cleric, Duality, Fighter, Ranger, and Sage. After a ritual that frees you from the threat of death -a.k.a. the perfect excuse to die a million times-, you'll be off on your journey to hunt the mages and fulfill your purpose.

In a press release after the reveal, James Silva (founder of Ska Studios) said, "Seeing the multiplayer aspects of Salt and Sacrifice come to life has been really cool. There are so many interesting things we can do with our different factions’ goals within this perilous Mage-wracked world."

Salt and Sacrifice will be released for PS4, PS5, and PC in Q1 2022. It will retail for $19.99 and come with support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
