Iwan Rheon, who memorably played the depraved Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones, is set to appear live in Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge from Wednesday, October 28, to Friday, October 30 in the UK.

Screamfest 4, created by Rockstar Games’ John Zurhellen, known for such classics as Grand Theft Auto IV, Manhunt 1 & 2, and Red Dead Redemption, will be the world’s first game to allow players to remotely issue commands to an actor and watch him respond in real-time on a live video link.

Players will be able to steer Rheon’s character to safety with a single torch through a series of chilling rooms, claustrophobic cells, and dank hallways as he is chased by The Kraken’s nemesis, The Balthazoid. “I’m used to playing a character that did all the controlling but now the tables are turned,” Rheon said, referencing his GoT role.

“I’ll be at the mercy of people controlling my every move online from anywhere in the country, sending me from room to room in a particularly creepy location while I’m hunted by a monster. I do wonder how many Kraken fans will send me to my doom and how many will save me!” he added.

Zurhellen was instructed to develop a concept more frightening than anything happening in 2020, which is no small feat. “I delved deep into our primal fears – being hunted, tight spaces, dark shadows, hate-filled creatures – and I’m pretty confident I’ll deliver one of the most terrifying experiences to be seen in UK homes this year,” he said.

The Kraken and Zurhellen have kept most details about the game under wraps to heighten the fright factor. However, horror fans are bound to be pleasantly surprised given that Rockstar’s Manhunt was lauded for its bone-chilling atmosphere and depiction of violence.

Next week, participants can play Rheon from Wednesday to Friday with 10-minute slots beginning at 5pm. Tickets, which are available on The Kraken’s website, The League of Darkness, for £10 per slot, also include The Beast’s custom game-guide and ingredients to create a custom Kraken Rum cocktail. For those that miss out on the opportunity to play this time around, the rum distiller will be releasing additional gaming sessions, which will be announced The Kraken’s Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
