Every look featured in the fashion show was a unique testament to geek culture, but a few in particular stood out from the crowd. Designer Adria Renee impressed the judges with her tropical-inspired outfit, complete with an embroidered Jurassic Park dinosaur dress, and went home with the judge’s choice award. While Renee won the judges’ hearts, designer Sarah Hambly was a popular choice among the crowds, and won the audience’s choice award for her stylish matching hat, cape, and jumpsuit in green, gold, and black, which was inspired by classic comic villain Loki “as if he was a Cardi B fan.”

In addition to fashion, fans also got news. The sixth annual Her Universe fashion show partnered with Netflix’s She-Ra to celebrate the power of fashion. In honor of this partnership, the founder of Her Universe, Ashley Eckstein, announced that she will voice a character on the upcoming season of the show.

Eckstein even wore a She-Ra themed look for the occasion, a version of She-Ra’s outfit as a full-length dress. She and her co-host, actor Tiffany Smith of Harry and Meghan: Becoming Royal fame, also wore outfits inspired by other fandoms, including Batman and The Haunted Mansion. Both Eckstein and Smith, as well as all the designers in the fashion show, followed the spirit of She-Ra’s vision of daring and empowering fashion.

Her Universe also teased some of the upcoming collections and new looks from the retailer. Some of the looks previewed on the runway included lines based on Harry Potter, She-Ra, Star Wars, and Kiki’s Delivery Service. They also revealed that they were making dresses for Disney’s retro-styled clothing line The Dress Shop. In addition, Her Universe announced that they would be introducing collections surrounding Wonder Woman, designed by the 2019 fashion show winners themselves. Overall, a big weekend for geeky fashion and a big year looking forward to these stylish collections.
