Not much is known about the origin of Kylo Ren, the antagonist of the most recent Star Wars film trilogy, but that's about to change. Fans will be getting a comic mini-series revolving around the temperamental dark warrior and what should be an intriguing backstory.

The Star Wars sequel Trilogy brought some new characters along with it after skipping 30 years between Return of the Jedi to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren being one of them. Played by Adam Driver, Kylo Ren is the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa and, during a confrontation with his father in The Force Awakens, Han refers to him by his birth name, Ben.

His role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi didn't do much in terms of providing more insight into his origin, save the fact that his uncle Luke Skywalker considered killing him in his sleep when he realized his padawan was giving into the dark side.

Lucasfilm's San Diego Comic-Con panel has revealed a four-issue Marvel miniseries titled Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren is on the way will detail Kylo's life. The comics will be written by Charles Soule, who followed the announcement up with a tweet on Friday.

"As just announced, I am writing THE RISE OF KYLO REN - a limited series comic launching in December, just before Episode IX," he wrote. "You know the one story everyone’s dying to see, about Kylo and the Knights of Ren? That’s this.

"You’re not ready (hell, I barely am.)"

The tweet also came with an image of the cover of the series' first issue showing Kylo and the Knights of Ren.

The series will be released in December, with the last film from the trilogy also set to drop on December 20. The movie has already teased some more Kylo reveals, so this is all very timely. Per Vanity Fair, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring back the Knights of Ren who made a cameo appearance in The Force Awakens.

The panel announced several more titles, including Star Wars creatures Big & Small (for kids), Star Wars Myths and Fables and Star Wars: Age of Resistance, which focuses on Rey, Rose Tico, Supreme Leader Snoke, as well as Kylo.
