Sea of Thieves is all about sailing the high seas hunting for treasure. No matter what players set sail to find, the goal is to usually find a way to make a profit thanks to what can be found and obtained in the world. But once players find the treasure, what do they spend the profits on?

That's where the outposts come in handy. These outposts are like pirate-themed malls where players can go from store to store buying any kind of goods they can think of from shopkeepers, as long as they have the gold. But what does each storekeeper do and what do they sell?

7 Clothing Shop

At the outposts, there is a house with two tusks sticking out of the front of it above the door and various lines where fabric lay. This is the Clothing Shop with a shopkeeper that has a name that starts with a "C" for Clothier with each outpost having a different shopkeeper.

As the name suggests, the clothing shop is where players can purchase articles for their wardrobe. This includes basic tops, bottoms, and hats. But because this is a pirate game, there are also eyepatches, peg legs, and hooks up for sale, as well. It's perfect for players who want to look good while conquering their enemies.

6 Equipment Shop

The Equipment Shop is located in a shack with a skull and crossbones on the roof and two horns sticking out of either side. The shopkeepers in this store all have a name that starts with the letter "T" which is meant to represent the word "tool."

The Equipment Shop focuses on the most essential items for any pirate in the non-weapon division of the game. This includes uniquely-styled versions of the shovels, buckets, compasses, and lanterns to look a bit cooler. There are also instruments that come with some of the sets on sale, too.

5 Shipwright Shop

When first arriving at the outpost, there are a few shops that are located on the dock itself. In the reddish hut with hammer and mallet symbols on the front is the Shipwright Shop. The shopkeeper goes by a name that starts with an "S" for shipwright. This particular shop focuses on the aesthetic features of the player's ship.

It offers a variety of different sets that players can use to customize elements such as the sails, hull, wheel, cannons, and more. Out of all the shops at an outpost, the Shipwright Shop is the most expensive when it comes to spending gold outside of Athena's Fortune Hideout.

4 Weaponsmith's Shop

On the first floor of another eerie-looking building is the Weaponsmith's Shop. It features a sword and gun icon right next to the door, but it also has tusks and skulls on it. The shopkeepers that run this establishment all have names that start with the letter "W" which stands for weaponsmith.

This is another self-explanatory shop as it is the central place where pirates can go and buy the best weapon upgrades they can find -- both cosmetically and mechanically. The four types of weapons available are cutlass, pistol, blunderbuss, and eye of reach.

3 Pirate Emporium

Heading up the stairs to the shop with a skull within a hexagon as its logo is the Pirate Emporium. It takes Ancient Coins as currency and the shop is run by keepers who have a name that starts with an "E" for Emporium. Ancient Coins need to be purchased with real-life money, but in return, players gain access to a variety of cool items.

Like other shops at the Outposts, the Pirate Emporium offers players new cosmetic features for themselves or their ship. This is also the place to pick up seasonal items, as well. Also, there are pets for sale, which is always nice if players need a companion.

2 Legendary Luke & Liz

Legendary Liz in Sea of Thieves

There is one shop that is cut off to almost everyone with the exception of the Pirate Legends, one of the highest ranks a player can be in Sea of Thieves. With the role comes exclusive access to Athena's Fortune Hideout where players can visit the Pirate Legend to purchase a quest that features tougher enemies.

But the true shopkeepers of this hideout are Legendary Luke and Legendary Liz. Luke will sell the player Legendary and Ghost cosmetics for pirate customization and Liz sells these same sets for ship customization. Some items can only be earned through Commendations or Reputation Ranks.

1 Seapost Traders

A Seapost in Sea of Thieves

While Outposts are the main resource for pirates looking to find specific items, Seaposts are worth visiting for the 10% discount it has for the items they offer. Items sold at these rock islands are similar to those sold at the normal shops at an outpost.

However, there are only three items available per day. Each night around midnight, the items are cycled out and replaced. All seaposts have the same items on a given day. But there are eight different traders -- one for each of the seaposts that are in the game.
