Sega is teasing something, but they're playing it close to the chest for now.

Sega is one of the biggest publishers on the planet. With franchises like Sonic The HedgehogPhantasy Star, and everything Atlus produces under their umbrella, when they tease an announcement, there's cause to get excited—though, whatever they're tweeting about right now is probably not relevant to those titles.

The announcement of the intended announcement came on Twitter as both Sega and developer Two Point Studios revealed they intend to drop some news on Jan. 16, 2018, though they didn't say what the news is about. Two Point Studios was founded in 2016 by Ben Hymers, Mark Webley, and Gary Carr- the latter two worked on titles like Theme Hospital, Black & White, and even Lionhead's Fable.

As for what the announcement is, it's hard to say, however, when Two Point Studios revealed their partnership with Sega, it was for a simulation title prompting many to believe it could be the spiritual successor to Theme Hospital, though that hasn't been confirmed.

Scrolling through both Sega and Two Point Studios' tweets reveals one title fans are waiting for more than anything else — Jet Grind Radio (or Jet Set Radio for those outside of North America). Those fans will likely be disappointed. Aside from the mystery game's genre being revealed when the partnership was announced, Two Point Studios flaunts that they intend on making simulation titles, which would exclude the fast-paced Jet Grind Radio.

That didn't stop Two Point Studios from teasing something, however. Before their announcement of the intent to make an announcement, the studio tweeted a photo of a cake with a big sensor bar photoshopped over the top because it contained spoilers.

Sega is coming off a strong year in 2017, with titles like Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces, Total War: Warhammer II,  Football Manager 2018, and a series of free-to-play Genesis titles for mobile devices, yet it looks like they're looking to continue that trend. For fall 2018, the publisher already revealed another Total War title, Total War: Three Kingdoms.
