Sega has issued an “urgent notice” for an upcoming product. We don’t know what form that product might take, whether it be a new game announcement or a new retro mini console, but we do know that Sega will live broadcast its announcement on June 3.

The official Sega Twitter gave us a 20:00 time for the broadcast to start, so that’ll be 7 AM ET for everyone on the East Coast. Specifically mentioned in the tweet are both Hiroyuki Miyazaki and Yosuke Okunari, two names that have a long history with Sega and have collectively worked on a large swath of Sega’s catalog.

Miyazaki can claim Puyo Puyo, Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2, and much of the Sonic series as credits, while Okunari has worked on Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage 4, Skies of Acadia, Crazy Taxi, and more. Both have extensive experience with the Sega Ages retro series, which brings back Sega’s older library for modern hardware.

Given the teaser image appears to be a chocolate-covered croissant made to look like a Sega Genesis controller with frosting for buttons, I think it’s safe to say we’re likely to get another Sega Ages announcement of some kind. If we’re really lucky, maybe Sega will even confirm something for the rumored Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi games in development.

Sega’s most recent financial statement confirmed it plans to double the number of remakes, remasters, and spinoff titles it makes for the 2023 financial year. Sega’s definition of “spin-off” also includes things like sequels to existing series, so that’ll likely mean successful franchises like Sonic and Yakuza will receive new games, but that still leaves more than enough room for some big surprises over the next year.

In the meantime, Sonic Origins arrives on PC and consoles on June 23. It’ll remaster the first five Sonic games, including Sonic 1 through 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. It’ll even use some of the tech developed by Sonic Mania’s Headcannon, although that studio recently clarified it’s not co-developing Sonic Origins.
