The official PlayStation Twitter account has announced that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be receiving a free update. The update is slated for an October 28 release and will implement new outfits, single-life challenges, and boss rematches to the game.

This update comes on the heels of the announcement that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be receiving a Game of the Year edition. The Game of the Year Edition includes every new feature the October 28 update will be implementing but does not appear to have any additional content beyond that.

Once the update goes live, players will be able to change Wolf’s appearance with three new skins. To unlock these skins, players will need to participate in the Gauntlet of Strength game mode, although one skin (presumably the as-yet-unnamed one) is unlocked simply by completing the base game. The other two skins are called “Old Ashina Shinobi” and “Tengu”.

Additionally, players will also be able to share information and communicate with each other using the Remnants system, which allows them to send 30-second-long recordings as well as short messages to other players. The Remnants system seems very similar to Dark Soul's bloodstains, and while it's not quite the official co-op support players have been clamoring for, the community is sure to put it to good use sharing tips, tricks, and boss strategies.

But the most anticipated feature in the update has to be the Reflection of Strength and Gauntlet of Strength modes. There, players will be able to tackle previously defeated bosses in single or consecutive fights. While beating any of Sekiro’s bosses is a monumental achievement in and of itself, players reattempting fights or even throwing themselves into a gauntlet of back to back boss fights is sure to impress.

Reflection of Strength allows players to fight rematches against previously defeated bosses, whereas Gauntlet of Strength is described as a "boss rush" mode where bosses can be challenged in single or consecutive combat. The Gauntlet of Strength is likely the "single-life challenge" described by the PlayStation Twitter account. October 28 can't come soon enough!
