Sephiroth is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December, which means that the game will finally receive some much-needed Final Fantasy 7 content.

Cloud Strife was one of the DLC characters in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U, and he might have been the most high-profile and highly-anticipated fighter in the series up to that point. There was an unbelievable amount of hype leading up to the release of Cloud in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U, and he became one of the most popular characters in the game, even with the competitive dominance of Bayonetta.

It was revealed at the Game Awards that Sephiroth is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC fighter. This means that more Final Fantasy 7 content will be coming to the game, which is something that it badly needs. For you see, Square Enix has been far stingier with its content than other third-party developers who have contributed characters to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Before the arrival of Sephiroth, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate only had a single Final Fantasy 7 character, two Spirits (both of which are Cloud), two songs, and no Mii Fighter costumes. The Chocobo costume from Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U didn't even make it into the game. It has been confirmed that Sephiroth will bring at least one new stage to the game (the Lifestream), and one new song ("One-Winged Angel"). We will almost certainly see one new Spirit for Sephiroth as well.

Sephiroth's addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate means that we might finally receive more Final Fantasy 7 content. The game has an incredible soundtrack and it's criminal that only two songs made their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sephiroth's inclusion also explains why we haven't seen any Final Fantasy 7 Spirits outside of Cloud, as he can now have his own Spirit Board filled with battles. It's even more exciting to think of the Mii Fighter costumes that might be released alongside Sephiroth. We might see Tifa and Rude Mii Brawler costumes, Aerith and Zack Mii Swordfighter costumes, and Barret and Reno Mii Gunner costumes. The Highwind ship appeared in Sephiroth's trailer, so we might even see Super Smash Bros. versions of the Final Fantasy 7 cast as background cameo characters.

The second Fighters Pass has been a mixed bag, especially following the disappointing inclusion of Byleth to the game. Sephiroth might be another sword-wielding pretty boy, but he's also one of the most beloved video game villains of all time. His inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a huge deal, and we can't wait to see what other elements of Final Fantasy 7 make their way into the game alongside him.
