Serious Sam 4 is a super intense and fast-paced action shooter that can be played in both first-person and third-person depending on your gameplay preference. This game doesn't feel all that different from past Serious Sam games, mostly featuring wide-open stages, swarms of crazy baddies, bombastic action, and a bevy of powerful weapons.

5 Military Knife
One of the most unassuming yet most useful weapons, at least against weaker enemies is the military knife. This default melee weapon is downright lethal. When dealing with swarms of lesser baddies the military knife can take out most of them with only one or two hits.
What makes this weapon even better is that it can be used for special one-hit melee takedowns on certain enemies. If you get up close to an enemy and press the melee button, a cinematic knife kill takes place. Although this weapon may not be as over-the-top as some others in the game, it's a good one to keep in mind.
4 12 Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun
The 12 gauge pump-action shotgun is a fantastic staple to your Serious Sam 4 arsenal and also happens to be one of the first weapons you acquire. You might think that the earlier weapons in the game would be less effective, however, this is far from the truth. This standard single shotgun can easily take out most enemies in just two quick shots.
While this shotgun does have to pump reload between each shot, it only takes a couple of seconds in total. Plus, you are able to hold multiple shells at once which means you can take out most weaker baddies in rapid succession. While not as effective on larger, hulking baddies, it can still be useful for finishing them off. Plus, you can also get a grenade launcher attachment.
3 Double-Barreled Coach Gun
It might seem cheap to feature two shotguns on a list of the best weapons, however, they are two of the best all-around weapons in the game, with the double-barreled version coming out on top in most combat situations. This double-barreled version of the shotgun is very reminiscent of the wild west.
Yes, this shotgun can only fire out two shells at a time before needing to completely reload, but, what it lacks in speed it easily makes up for in sheer stopping power. The double-barreled shotgun can take out almost every enemy in just one shot, even flying enemies and enemies at medium range. It's honestly surprising just how effective this gun is but it's one you may not want to ever unequip.
2 M29 Infantry Assault Rifle
This powerful automatic assault rifle is the perfect all-purpose weapon. While it doesn't offer the same damage output as the two shotgun variants, it holds a massive magazine and has incredible accuracy when both hip-firing and aiming down sights. You won't get this assault rifle until the second chapter, but it's definitely worth the wait.
While it may not look as flashy as some of the other weapons in Serious Sam 4, it easily serves you well in most combat scenarios. During certain combat sections where there are both short-range and long-range enemies, whipping out the M29 infantry assault rifle can take down all of them with relative ease. Just be aware that it tends to run out of ammo quite quickly.
1 XM214-A Minigun
Oh goodness is this gun fun to use, especially against massive bosses or huge swarms of enemies. Granted you really only get this gun at certain scripted points in the game, it definitely is worth the wait. This uber-powerful minigun rarely ever needs to reload which means you can keep on firing until the enemies are laid to waste.
This gun is simply a shredding machine and can take down an entire group of sprinting monsters in a matter of seconds. However, if you find yourself up against a boss and you are armed with this weapon, don't even think about swapping because these gameplay sections might be the most fun parts of the game.
