Devolver Digital has officially unveiled Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem — a new standalone chapter in the shooter series. The game launches on PC via Steam on January 25 and there is no word on the console versions as of yet.
Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is set in Russia and will offer "an expanded look at a familiar journey full of forgotten stories and unexplored places." This time, the game was co-developed with Croatian developer Croteam and new Russian studio Timelock, which formed in 2021 to work on first-person shooters.
There's also a reveal trailer for Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem, featuring all the things you'd expect: plenty of never-before-seen enemies and Sam Stone's trademark guns-blazing battles against Mental's Horde. Due to a new setting, you'll find yourself lost in the middle of peaceful Russian scenery such as small abandoned villages, wooden windmills in the fields, and even some brutal Soviet architecture.
According to the new story, Sam Stone has to chase traitorous General Brand, who remains one step ahead of our hero at every turn. Your journey to Tunguska will extend across five sprawling levels, including Arctic coastlines, desolate forests, ghost towns, and hidden secret bunkers. Fans of the series will also receive new weapons such as AK-47s and the experimental 'Perun' crossbow and will be able to shoot foes from cannon while riding a snowmobile… which surely sounds like even more mayhem.
For those willing to explore more, this standalone title will feature optional side-quests from friendly NPCs providing additional information about the Serious Sam universe, new locations, and characters. The devs hinted the lands of Siberia contain plenty of secrets and mysteries for the most curious players — can you find them all?
Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is launching on January 25 and won't require players to own Serious Sam 4. The upcoming standalone has got its own Steam page where you can add the project to your wishlist. There's no information yet whether Siberian Mayhem will be available across Xbox and PlayStation consoles just like the previous entry, but it's a possibility.
