One of the most legendary pieces of gaming history apparently belongs to Norville Rogers, better known as Scooby-Doo's best friend Shaggy.

The newest entry in the Scooby-Doo franchise, SCOOB!, hit streaming platforms on Friday and Twitter user @GirlWolfPup noticed an interesting detail in sitting inconspicuously under Shaggy's desk: the Nintendo Playstation!

One of the most valuable gaming councils in existence, the Nintendo Playstation was a prototype developed in partnership between the two companies in the late 80s/early 90s. The system would have used both CD-ROM and cartridges and would have been Sony's first foray into the home console space. The deal fell through rather dramatically, which launched Sony off in their own direction, ultimately resulting in the creation of the Playstation 1.

Today, there is only 1 prototype of the Nintendo Playstation known to exist. It recently sold after a lengthy auction to Oculus creator Palmer Lucky for $300,000 earlier this year. So how the heck did Shaggy get his hands on one?

The part of the film that features the Nintendo Playstation is a flashback to when Mystery Inc. were kids. While the time period isn't explicitly laid out, it's conceivable that Shaggy was around the age when the Nintendo Playstation would have been popular...had it ever actually been produced.

Perhaps in the world of Scoob!, the Nintendo Playstation WAS produced, and it became the most popular video game system of all time! If it had, maybe all our dogs would have learned to talk too. Oh what a world it would have been.
