Indie developer Frogwares has released a reveal trailer for Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One and the game looks like a suitably moody take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic character. Despite actually announcing the game yesterday, we weren't given an actual trailer until just this morning. It's obviously far too early to say if this is representative of anything, but we can glean a few things from it.

For one, Sherlock is obviously sad about something. He's seen crying at his mother's grave and is being generally mopey about life. He'll also be paired up with a character that isn't Watson, but a different Jon. With this title playing as a prequel to Frogwares' other Sherlock games, we'll get to see the evolution of this man from naive child to master detective.

What is kind of odd is that Sherlock almost looks like an anime character. Nothing against a different take on the man, but why is he so roguishly handsome? The stark black suit and mostly painted face don't really scream "Sherlock" to me. Then again, there is an anime based around the character set in modern-day Japan, so stranger things have happened.

At any rate, Chapter One will be releasing in 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a Switch port at some point.
