Shin Megami Tensei 5 has you take on the role of a high-schooler who stumbles upon a post-apocalyptic Tokyo known as Da'at, eventually linking up with a powerful being, allowing you to change the outcome of the world's fate. There's much to see and do in Shin Megami Tensei 5, and it can take quite a while to see everything the game offers.

Even after rolling credits, you will have many options to choose from, with new content, seeing all the different endings, and much more. However, some post-game options may not be clear to you at first, making things a bit confusing or even frustrating.

6 New Game Plus

The main protagonist reaching Da'at for the first time in Shin Megami Tensei 5

Once you clear your first playthrough in Shin Megami Tensei 5, you will unlock the option to start a New Game Plus (NG+), allowing you to start the game over from the beginning.

Unlike most games, however, there are two options for NG+ that will directly affect what you keep and what you lose when resetting to the start of the game. One is viewed as a bit more challenging, while the other will make things a lot easier.

Newborn

The Newborn NG+ option allows you to carry over your entire Demonic Compendium up to the last boss fight of the game. Choosing this option will carry over the Demon's affinities, attributes, and stats. It will also change the difficulty, but it won't be too unbearable. Picking the Newborn NG+ will wipe everything kept in the Reborn NG+ option (found below).

Reborn

The Reborn NG+ option, however, allows you to carry over the main character's skills, level, obtained Demons, Macca, and items. While all of your Demons will lose their stats, you will get to start from the beginning of the game with end-game stats, making everything overall easier to progress through. Like the Newborn NG+ option, picking the Reborn NG+ will wipe everything kept in the Newborn NG+ option (found above).
